Our mission is "environmental investigations and reporting that inspire environmentally sustainable management". Our specialty is linking ecological science, psychological science (especially in relation to perception and preference), environmental policy and planning. We have particular expertise

in ecological monitoring design and implementation; natural character or environmental naturalness assessments; environmental restoration; biosecurity and invasive species policy and assessment; ecological evaluations; and environmental policy and impact assessment. Our areas of work include terrestrial environments, rivers, lakes and riparian areas along with coastal and marine environments. We produce scientific reports, articles for scientific and popular publications as well as video productions. Our education work has ranged from writing and managing tertiary level courses to community focused field interpretation and visitor-centre video productions. We have a strong commitment to assisting community organisations and to that end the Directors have contributed considerable pro-bono work.

This is another of our big global problems - too much nitrogen reaching waterways. The article suggests an international treaty. What do you think?

More and more nitrogen keeps pouring into waterways, unleashing algal blooms and creating dead zones. To prevent the problem from worsening, scientists warn, the world must drastically cut back on synthetic fertilizers and double the efficiency of the nitrogen used on farms.

An interesting article about feral cats in New Zealand. It would really be helpful if those of different views could work together on a solution to the damaging impacts of feral cats on NZ wildlife.

Cat control is almost a "don't go there" zone. But is it time we took a good look at NZ's “subsidised predator” and native bush marauder?
