Finally the drought has been broken... My first new tubers have arrived. I know I have one more lot in the post which is exciting!

I really wish it was a bit drier as I've finally started lifting my tubers. More to come of those adventures. In classic Nicole style I went out there in my slippers with a fork and no plan of attack. I got started, panicked and my partner came calmed me down and gave me some structure 😆 I'm tempted to head out there now, 8:30 in the morning in my slippers and nightie and keep digging... Maybe I'll get dressed first?

Not every parcel is what it seems... Who else loves a good unboxing surprise? What tubers are top on your list that you're waiting for the post... Like a watched pot that doesn't boil, the post takes forever when you're so excited!

A few of my favourite things...

While I wait (not so patiently!) for spring, I've been looking back through videos of some of my favourite dahlia varieties. Every one of them has something special and I can't wait to see them again!

Now comes the less glamorous part... I really need to start dividing tubers! I will be very grateful when the garden bursts back into colour. Just with moving things have been delayed... And this weekend's weather looks less than inviting to be outside!

Which variety are you most looking forward to seeing this season? I'd love to hear or even better, share a photo if you have one!

If in doubt, buy the dahlia it's easier to as for forgiveness than permission. I know there's a few more joining the field next season!

We're in the depths of winter now. I've not even started thinking about lifting my tubers. One minute I think it's the time but then I think I don't have the time.

On Monday I should have a semi permanent home which will be for the next six or so months. It'll be with the flowers and I have a greenhouse to install. I have a beautiful but dilapidated garden to start bringing back to life.

It's exciting, but I am missing the warmth of all the other season.
