We’re missing some of the A team today but the Fork And Spade crew put 6000 plants in on a farm near gore in spring, we’ve returned with a big team over the last few weeks to sleeve the carex grasses and continue with after care maintenance and spraying. It’s been a big and ongoing effort!

📝 Applications are due in soon for two funds which support landowners who are undertaking projects to enhance our region’s waterways.

🌿 Our Land Sustainability Mitigations Fund offers assistance for projects such as wetland restoration and construction, and building detainment bunds.

🌱 The Southland Native Planting Fund provides support for riparian planting adjacent to waterways, planting retired farmland, critical source areas and other similar work.

🧭 To be eligible, projects must be based in Southland. Before applying, discuss your project with one of our land sustainability officers.

Hilton Global Foundation - Slope Hill Project Update 💚🌳💚

We have just taken delivery of our first 2200 plants from Pukerau Nursery in Gore. Thanks to James for driving up to Queenstown on a Saturday for this very special delivery! 1500 of these mixed Olearia will be planted in the toe zone of the hill starting Monday 26th August. The Corokia Cotoneaster will be planted a little further up the hill in a few weeks.

After many weeks of site preparation by the Mana Tāhuna crew, we all are excited to be kicking off the planting phase of the project!!
