From sand pit to glory - Check out the transformation at Chateau De Palma. Recently finished construction in 2024, the chateau brings a hint of modern elegance to this newly landscaped front garden. Lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and sleek hardscaping have turned this once barren plot into an oasis of beauty. Can't wait to see how it grows and evolves in the years to come!

I went with a mix of natives (below) which are well adapted to the Western Australian climate and sandy free draining soils.

Welcome back friends and followers! Spring is nearly upon us and your garden will be starting to come alive again! It’s time to start planting spring crops and get your piece of paradise into tip top shape for the warmer months. Make room for new season plants and plan where to plant new season blooms to brighten up your outdoor space.

Tomatoes are a quintessentially Kiwi addition to every backyard and I've also got some carrots and lettuce to keep them company. I also have a few cheeky parsley seedlings for some extra herb power. Top tip - mix through a bag of organic fertiliser to your vege patch for extra nutrients.

Some other popular crops for planting in spring include: cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, beetroot, celery, onions, peas, beans and potatoes. GET INTO IT NEW ZEALAND.

Hello and welcome loyal fans and followers! Here is another derelict vege patch that was in need of some garden magic! July has just begun and for most areas of the country the soil is probably still too cold and damp for the first lot of vegetable seeds. However, If you're feeling discouraged, try growing a few leafy green crops such as spinach, silverbeet or kale until the spring preparations begin!

I will leave you with a joke to bring the love and fun of nature into the rest of your week... What type of vegetable can tie your stomach in knots?
String beans.

Good evening loyal friends and fans. Whether it is causing your tiles to get slippery or taking over the shady edges of your lawn, moss tends to sneak up on us in the wet Winter months! Moss loves our wet coastal environment and flourishes in acidic soils, unlike grass which prefers more a more alkaline environment. If you're beautiful lawn is turning into a mossy nightmare, don't worry because there is light at the end of the tunnel. A simple lime application raises the soil pH and improves the availability of nutrients and calcium which helps your grass to take back control. Along with spreading a layer of soil in the spring to help moss suppression.

Some intriguing individuals use moss to create funky living art. Moss is pretty hardy plant and keeping it indoors is actually relatively carefree as it doesn’t need much moisture or sunlight and absolutely no fertilizer. Simply mist the surface a couple of times a week to keep the moss moist and bobs your uncle.

Get out in the garden before it gets too cold everyone and good luck with your moss creations!

Here's a little terraced bank I've been working on today! The slope has been slipping away with the added rainfall we've had recently. The terraced design acts as a retaining wall for the bank while the plants provide added slope stability and swanky good looks. They are all hardy plants that can cope with less groundwater than other plants as this area tends to dry out significantly between precipitation. The bark also suppresses w**ds, looks spectacular and acts as a path for easy access. Get into it NZ!

Good morning my people! Today were talking about bark or mulch for your garden projects. Now, choosing the right mulch for your yard and plants is important. The bark provides a range of benefits, including insulating plant roots, controlling w**d growth, reducing soil compaction and retaining soil moisture content.
Bark mulches not only improve the health of your garden but they also add to aesthetic appeal! This type of mulch is long-lasting and has been dyed black for that dark professional look however, it is the most expensive. There are many different types to choose from so go down to the garden shop and get into it NZ!!

Good morning everyone! Its still spring, and there's a tremendous amount to do in the garden as the weather warms up. What I love most about spring is that everything is new. Trees that were empty masts a few weeks ago are like full green sails navigating the street, fruit trees are blossoming as if they're at a wedding day dance, and bold new fronds unfurl proudly from sturdy ponga trunks. Among other things the w**ds just keep growing and before you know it the garden might look like this! Dig in guys summer is just around the corner and you don't want to have guests around for a BBQ if your gardens are in a shambles!

Another vegetable garden prepared and ready for summer! It may not look like much but this baby was a lot rougher on the ole hands than you might have thought. Deep roots penetrated the earths crust. Plants that were once healthy and vibrant had been strangled and suffocated by w**ds. It brings immense satisfaction to get in and work the earth with your bare hands. It is indeed, something that everyone should do before summer rolls round. Get those gardens ready people!
