Te Ao Tā a Tūiterangi Creating art to share with the world. No specific style, just working it out as I go.

When you realise we're just big kids that got born into adulthood and dragged up (because of the world wide conditions we were born into).
Then one day you realise that you are now adults that can use that free will that you should have had as a kid xx

My page is called "Te Ao Tā a Tūiterangi".

I will share, as well as korero, about how I view and see all the different forms of art in the world:

Te Ao Māori, my/our culture, is so beautiful, intense, and poetic.

This is my whakaaro of the week:

I have realised (very recently) since going full‑immersion in te reo Māori that I don't speak up enough in my current first language — English.

When you are in a space where your ability to speak aloud is limited by how many words you know, you come to realise that the thoughts/ideas you have are unable to be expressed and can easily be misinterpreted — which naturally leads to frustration.

So, here I am speaking — not just typing or painting my whakaaro, but talking about something that is a huge part of me.

There's about 5 different conversations going on here and I don't think the point was in the yard with me...but what I'm trying to say is this:
I am enjoying being more free with my work and letting the image come to life on its own.

Society places a lot of pressure on us to be a certain way and theres so many rules and sometimes that s*it becomes a lot😮‍💨

But when it comes to painting, those pressures and rules go out the window.

For me, I dissappear inside, and the mask comes off, and I get to bring out a part of me that I would otherwise hide from the world.

A picture can say what ever you want it to.
When you take away the "rules" you allow room for your imagination to come through.

No Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Arawa, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Awa, Te Āti Awa anō hoki.

Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Ao Tā a Tūiterangi — taku whārangi toi!

I’ve finally created my art page… it only took five minutes, but you can bet I’ve been putting it off for months 🫠

The art below is what I’ve done recently (and a couple of old pieces).
I pretty much stopped working on my art when I finished school, so my portfolio is currently very small, but, I have many pieces living in my head that I’m excited to bring to life!

At the moment I mainly work with acrylic, but I can work with other mediums as well.

I will also be taking commissions, although I’m still working out the business side of things.
Fair warning: I like to take my time with my work, especially when a piece carries layers of meaning ❤️

My main goal is to build a career (so yes, $$), but I also love to trade. If you’d like some art done but you’re unsure about the cost, I’m happy to discuss other options — for example, I really want to learn how to hunt and fish, with the long-term goal of becoming food sovereign 🤷🏽‍♀️🙌🏽❤️

P.S. This page is lowkey here to keep me accountable — to make sure I stick to doing what makes me happy and brings me joy 🎨🖌💃🏽
