National Group completed an exterior maintenance project at the New World Pioneer store in Palmerston North, including both the supermarket and adjacent fuel site.

With retailers such as Foodstuffs operating supermarkets nationwide, ongoing planned preventative maintenance plays an important role in maintaining consistent presentation and customer experience across stores.

Works included preparation and recoating across all exterior elevations, entry lobbies, storefront areas, canopies, structural steel, window frames, and selected carpark elements — along with key areas within the fuel site such as the canopy, pump shed and bollards. The project refreshed high-visibility areas to maintain a consistent and well-presented retail environment.

Strong communication with site operators and property management was central throughout the project, alongside careful coordination to manage odour-sensitive areas and maintain safe access for customers and pedestrians.

Another large-scale annual maintenance programme has been underway for one of New Zealand’s key infrastructure providers supporting fibre and copper networks across the country.

With over 1.5 million connections across more than 400 towns and cities, Chorus operates a large nationwide network. The programme covers approximately 500–600 exchange sites, ranging from small rural exchanges to larger multi-storey buildings in towns and cities — all playing a critical role in keeping communities connected.

To match this scale and variation, works are planned on a site-specific basis, with each location assessed and serviced according to its size, condition, and requirements. Depending on the site type, works include gutter and sump cleaning, moss treatments, condition assessments, and detailed reporting.

Alongside the physical maintenance, structured reporting forms an important part of the programme. Site-specific documentation, condition photos, and reporting of any identified damage or access issues provide valuable information to the client — supporting future maintenance planning, asset visibility, and long-term management across the nationwide portfolio.

Exterior maintenance and cleaning in active food production sites requires a strict focus on health and safety.

National Group has completed monthly maintenance works for a leading New Zealand dairy producer at one of their sites in Otago, as part of a wider planned preventative maintenance programme delivered across multiple sites nationwide.

The works focused on roofs and external building areas, including gutter cleaning, roof treatments, and exterior washing — helping manage build-up, protect surfaces, and maintain the condition of critical structures exposed to the elements.

Working at height adds another layer of complexity, alongside strict hygiene requirements. Careful planning and established protocols ensure chemical use is controlled, contamination risks are minimised, and all works are carried out safely around active systems such as air intake areas, with clear communication supporting coordination on site.

With a large network of stores across New Zealand, maintaining a consistent look and feel is an important part of the Woolworths New Zealand brand experience.

Another Woolworths store has received a refreshed exterior, with National Group completing maintenance works at the Timaru location — updating all elevations of the building.

The works included preparation and recoating of walls, doors and frames, soffits, spouting, and downpipes — helping protect the building envelope while maintaining a clean, updated appearance in line with brand standards.

This creates a fresh, welcoming environment for customers, while contributing to a consistent presentation across a nationwide retail portfolio.

Mercury Energy’s Karāpiro Hydro Station has been generating renewable energy on the Waikato River since 1947. With a total capacity of 112.5MW and an average annual output of 537GWh, the station produces enough electricity to power approximately 63,000 homes each year — playing a vital role in New Zealand’s energy network.

National Group has completed a large-scale industrial coatings project within the operating hydro facility. The scope spanned multiple internal levels of the powerhouse, loading areas, corridors, ceilings, structural elements, and stairwells — requiring specialist preparation, access solutions, and carefully coordinated staging throughout the site.

Working in an active industrial environment demands strict safety controls, detailed planning, and efficient ex*****on. Projects of this scale help protect critical infrastructure, extend asset life, and support the ongoing performance of essential energy assets — delivered with the same consistency expected across large infrastructure sites nationwide.
