Propagating Attar of roses Geranuim.
I normally use thicker stems and gritty compost, but had run out, so I used what was available, and as the plant was damaged during the wind last night, I guess beggars can’t be choosers😂
I cut just below a leaf node, as this is where most of the plants hormone, Auxin is concentrated, and is more likely to grow roots from.
I tend to damage the stem slightly, to expose the cambium layer which helps it to form roots.
I trim just enough leaves off, to not stress the cutting, and place around the edges of the pot as this is less likely to dry out. Here it retains warmth, and when the roots hit the hard surface they stop growing horizontally and then branch out and go down.
Water and leave in a warm place like a greenhouse or inside with a plastic bag over to keep in the warmth and moisture.

It’s time to plant your garlic if you are in the southern hemisphere. A good rule of thumb is to plant them on the shortest day and harvest them on the longest day. Use large cloves as this will give you the biggest bulbs. Happy gardening!

There’s something special about people who notice the little things in nature.
The ones who refill bird feeders before making their morning coffee.
Who stop mowing the lawn because they spotted a hidden rabbit nest.
Who quietly care for the creatures most people walk past without seeing.

In a world that moves fast, kindness like this feels rare — but it matters deeply.

Protecting nature isn’t always about grand gestures. Sometimes it’s simply choosing gentleness in ordinary moments. Leaving a patch of wildflowers for bees. Putting out water during hot days. Slowing down long enough to notice life all around us.

The people who care for the smallest lives often carry the biggest hearts. ❤️🌎

May we all become a little softer, a little slower, and a little more mindful of the beautiful world we share.

Creating a new path over lawn. This area gets sodden in winter as the site slopes down toward this area. Edging is next and then gravel between pavers so that my son who is lives in the sleepout can have dry feet on the very wettest days.
