Welcome to my healthy azolla farm — where nature does all the work! This vibrant green carpet of azolla is thriving, not with chemicals or commercial fertilizers, but with the help of my swordtail fishes and their natural waste. That’s right — fish p**p is the main source of nutrients here!

As the swordtails swim peacefully below, their waste enriches the water with essential nutrients that azolla loves. In return, the azolla helps keep the water clean, provides shade, and creates a cooler, healthier environment for the fish. It’s a beautiful cycle of life — sustainable, organic, and completely chemical-free.

Madre de Agua for Sale!

Madre de Agua is one of the best protein sources in preparing feeds for chickens, pigs, goats, cows and even fish. Chemically, it contains 88.44% dry matter, 18.21% crude protein, 12.5% crude fiber, 2.66% crude fat, 21.80% ash, 11.56% moisture, 5% calcium and .41% phosphorus. For the feeding of pregnant pigs, replacement of up to 30% soybean meal produced an economic benefit without affecting reproductive performance.

•Azolla is an excellent aquatic green manure plant, and was until recently used extensively in Vietnam, China and other parts of Asia in rice paddies, where it would cover the surface of the water in the paddy and out-compete w**ds while the rice grew, fixing nitrogen and contributing fertility as it went.

•The great thing about Azolla is that not only is in a high value feed for animals and a great option for adding to compost and to the market garden plantings, but that it grows itself without taking too much fertility from the system. It’s a little bit like free energy, and highly regenerative as a system
component.

Azolla benefits:
1. Hosts a symbiotic blue green algae Anabaena azolle, which is responsible for the fixation and assimilation of atmospheric nitrogen.

2. Can double in size every several days under optimal nutrient and water temperate conditions

3. Green manure plant for paddy agriculture for w**d suppression and fertility (used extensively in organic duck and rice systems)

4.Nitrogen and mineral source for compost making
