Redoxide vs Epoxy Primer

Epoxy Primer has better chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and adhesion than Redoxide. Epoxy primer will chalk under UV, thus a topcoat is recommended when used outdoor. Redoxide on the other hand has better UV resistance, easier to apply because it is one part and cost cheaper than Epoxy Primer.

Redoxide (Alkyd)
Alkyd primer is used for protection of steel exposed to relatively mild environments. Alkyd paints can only be used above water because its water resistance is poor.

Benefits:
- Easy application with spray, roller or brush.
-Good adhesion to the surface and has good penetrating properties.
-Good weather resistance and color stability.

Limitations:
-Poor resistance to chemicals specially to alkalis.
-Limited water resistance. It can usually tolerate ordinary outdoor humidity, but can not be used under water or extreme humidity.
-Limited resistance to solvents. It can swell under the influence of strong solvents such as xylene and alcohols.
-Must not be coated over by paints containing strong solvents because it will swell the alkyd.

Epoxy Primer:
Epoxy coatings have good chemical resistance, particularly to alkalis. They have very good adhesion both to steel and concrete and has good water resistance. Durable and has good abrasion resistance.

Benefits:
-Good water and chemical resistance.
-Good adhesion to the substrate.
-Good alkali resistance.
-Good resistance to abrasion.
-Durable.

Limitations:
-Poor resistance to UV. Chalks when used outdoor.
-Two-component product that requires good mixing.

THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION

Drawing lang yan. I have hear these words from people over and over. Although may post na tayo tungkol dito noon, para mas malinaw at para sa mga hindi pa nakakaalam, let me tell you a little bit about this "drawing lang thing".

Drawings or presentations for a house is categorized as autocad works, drafting works, sketches, 3D perspective visualization, video walkthrough, etc. These drawing thing are instrument of service of an architect and other allied professionals. Mahalaga din ito pero ang pinakaibinibigay na serbisyo ng isang Arkitekto sayo ay ang tinagawag na Design Solution.

MY TAKE

When you hire an architect to design your dream house, hindi lang siya magiisketch at magdodrawing lang ng floor plan mo. Being in the professional field of architecture, is to make solution sa problema, kailangan at gusto mo. Architects are not like the vendor in the air of Public Market with readymade floor plans and specification that are instant ready for you to buy. The reason of it is because those plans and specifications are not suitable, improper at far fit on your lifestyle.

Your Architect will design your house based on your way of life. It is based on your life activities. That is the reason why they pride themselves to listen as much as they speak so they totally understand you. They ask you broad questions like "what are your likes and dislikes, what would you change or improve, what is your biggest headache with, what is your ultimate objective and what would be your ideal house" going down to specific questions like "what do you do when you wake up, what activities do you and your family do when you have plenty of time, of all the factor what is the most important to you, etc" in an elegant manner.

Every detail matters. Walang "lang lang" sa mga bagay sa buhay mo kaya hindi yun drawing lang. The role of an architect is to incorporate and solve the activities mo sa araw araw na kapag ang bahay mo ay naitayo, magiging kumportable ka. Yung movement mo sa loob ng bahay ay may kaluwagan. Hindi kapag nagpagawa ka ng 3 bedroom residence, kinabukasan mayroon na. The architect will study virtually everything not just the orientation of the sun, direction of Hangging Amihan at Habagat, mga katabing lupa, mga hayop at halaman, style na gusto mo, mga paniniwal mo, kultura at matiryales sa lugar, sizes na maginhawa sayo, etc.

MY RECOMMENDATION

It is not just drawing kase kung drawing lang maraming pweding magdrawing sayo. Kahit grade 3 pwedi kang ipagdrawing. Drawing is the instrument of service kase kapag kumuha ka ng regulation compliance for building permit yun ang isusubmit. Kailangan magcomply para sa pangkalahatan pero alam ng arkitekto kung paano gawin yan ng tama kahit sketch sketch nya sa mga mason, karpintero at ibang mga nagtatrabaho, siguradong perpektong sakto pa rin yan sayo at sa pamilya mo. Para mas madali ang buhay kaya may drawing o instrument of service. Let your Architect drive the process of designing and building your house because he/ she will step by step, move by move and simplify the process of your dream.
