A hydroponic system for growing lettuce using the Kratky method

The Kratky method is a hydroponic technique that uses a reservoir of nutrient-rich water and a container with holes for the plants' roots.

The lettuce plants are suspended above the water in net pots filled with coco coir, a growing medium that wicks moisture and oxygen to the roots.

As the plants grow and consume water, an air pocket forms in the container, providing more oxygen to the roots. The image also shows a light source above the plants, which is necessary for photosynthesis and growth.

The Kratky method is named after Dr. Bernard Kratky, a researcher at the University of Hawaii.
