Be the Right Teammate

Marami ang gustong mapabilang sa dream team at magkaroon ng mga teammates na maaasahan, magaan at masayang katrabaho, may kusa at alam ang kanilang ginagawa. Gusto mong maging part ng ganitong team hindi ba? Pero ang tanong, are you the right teammate?

Magandang araw, ako si Maloi Malibiran-Salumbides, partner mo sa inspiradong buhay at trabaho.

Ang sabi ni John F. Kennedy, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." Pwede nating hiramin ang mga salitang iyan para naman sa ating teams, Ask not what your team can do for you, ask what you can do for your team. How can you be the right teammate?

1) Respect Your Teammates. Maayos ang samahan kung may respeto sa isa't-isa. Kahit pa may differences kayo at minsan ay mangbabanggan ang inyong personalities, styles at preferences, maging respectful sa iyong teammates. Listen respectfully even to ideas and opinions that are different from yours. Respectfully agree to disagree. Matthew 7:12 says, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them."

2) Practice Gratitude. Ugaliing magpasalamat sa iyong mga katrabaho para sa efforts nila at contribution sa inyong team. Commend them for work done well and give credit to whom credit is due. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us to "Give thanks in all circumstances." Ang pagpapasalamat sa mabuting gawa ng ating mga kasama sa trabaho ay pagpapakita ng pagpapahalaga sa kanila.

3) Hone Your Skills. Masarap katrabaho ang mga taong alam ang kanilang ginagawa at patuloy na nagsasanay para paghusayan pa ang kanilang trabaho. Are you that kind of a teammate? You are committed to honing your skills dahil gusto mong ibigay ang best mo para sa inyong kumpanya.

4) Build Trust. Tiwala ang pundasyon ng matatag na pagsasama sa pamilya man iyan o sa ating opisina. Mahirap ang walang tiwala, dahil bawat galaw o sasabihin ng isa ay maaaring pagdudahan. It is difficult to work in an environment of suspicion. Be the right teammate by being trustworthy and by building trust.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." Let us not be lone rangers in our work. We will accomplish more when we work in teams. Just make sure that you will continue to grow into becoming the right teammate.
