Banisilan, North Cotabato - Mike Bayangan, a kalabasa grower from Banisilan, North Cotabato unloaded tons of squash by the roadside with hopes to sell a few more pieces to passersby before they all rot.

At least SIX THOUSAND KILOS of unsold 'kalabasa' about to be abandoned and left to rot. No one wants to buy. There are more kalabasa farms about to suffer more losses in the nearby municipality of Wao, Lanao del Sur. So much food waste and losses suffered by our local farmers. It is no surprise that we are losing more and more farmers.

We hereby call for an URGENT RESCUE EFFORT to help our farmers and sell at least 6 tons of kalabasa from Banisilan. We are arranging for transport of the rescued kalabasa to Davao City on or before June 25, 2023. If you or someone you know can help, please get in touch.

ONLY Php199.00 for 10 KILOS OF KALABASA. You can opt to donate all ten kilos to an orphanage, public hospital, silver home or to organizations hosting feeding programs. Or, you can consume some and donate the rest.

Order here: https://forms.gle/gFQ1eHWkbjhz1TRt6

Please support our local kalabasa growers.

We have lost about 50% of our insects in the last 50 years! These are the bees and other beautiful creatures that pollinate most of our food, and play a crucial role in the ecosystems that support the delicate web of life.

Pesticides are a huge contributor and we now have a unique chance to stop these deadly chemicals.

The EU is setting targets for pesticide reduction and could phase them out all together. They are a massive market, and global pesticide negotiations are coming up soon -- if we can help win a ban in Europe, this could have ripple effects all over the world. The industry is going all out to water down the ambition, and the bees urgently need lobbyists of their own -- all of us. Sign now and share widely.

2.5 million tons of pesticides are sprayed on our fields every year. This is killing our bees and biodiversity, but we have a chance to stop it. Join the call!
