Mid-Century Tropical Bungalow

This proposed retirement home is designed to feel warm, familiar, and comforting for its future residents. Inspired by mid-century homes, the design uses finishes and textures that bring a sense of nostalgia and remind the users of the homes they grew up in.

The bungalow also embraces tropical design by allowing natural light and fresh air to flow freely throughout the spaces while maintaining a strong connection to nature. With its relaxed atmosphere and calming environment, the home is designed to be a peaceful place where retirees can slow down, rest, and enjoy life after years of hard work.

Two-Storey Residence

This two-storey residence was designed on an irregular inside lot, with the main objective of making the most out of the available space. Since the site faces south and receives substantial sunlight throughout the day, the facade was designed with several small windows to help minimize heat while still bringing in natural light.

To create a more comfortable living environment, each space in the house is planned with at least two openings to encourage natural airflow and ventilation.

Proposed 2-Storey Residence with Roofdeck

This project is designed to make a small space feel open, comfortable, and functional. The ground floor is intended for parking and gatherings, the second floor serves as the main living space, and the roof deck acts as a garden and relaxing outdoor area.

Since the house has firewall walls on two sides, the design focuses on keeping the spaces cool and well-ventilated. Windows are placed on the open sides of the house to allow natural airflow, while breeze blocks help bring in light and improve ventilation while maintaining privacy.

The Pritzker Architecture Prize announces Smiljan Radić Clarke, of Santiago, Chile, as the 2026 Laureate, receiving the award widely regarded as architecture’s highest international honor.

Radić resists a repeatable architectural language; instead, each project is approached as a singular inquiry, grounded in first principles and informed by noncontinuous history. Context, use and anthropological awareness take precedence. Site is understood not only in physical terms, but also as a convergence of history, social practice, and political circumstance.
