The "big light" is the enemy of rest.

​When we design a bedroom, lighting is never just a utility. It is a sequence. The goal isn't just visibility, but signaling to your nervous system that the day is done. That is why we avoid harsh overhead lighting.

​Instead, we build the atmosphere in layers. An architectural wash brings out warm wood tones, task lighting grounds the space, and a soft ambient fill softens the edges. We aren't just illuminating the room. We are sculpting its mood to intentionally ease you into absolute rest.

The final render always looks perfectly serene, but getting there is a messy process.

The reality of architectural design is a constant negotiation between hard data and human habit. When we sit down to map out the layout, we aren’t just plotting walls. We’re studying the realities of the site, understanding the quiet rhythms of the clients' routines, and yes, even figuring out the best way to block out the neighbor’s noisy dog.

It isn't just about a polished aesthetic, it's about solving the invisible realities of a space.

Private on the outside, completely open on the inside. 🌿

The brief for this ±200 sqm bungalow was clear. The clients wanted to feel entirely secluded from the street but deeply connected to nature once they walked through the doors.

We kept the frontage quiet and unassuming to protect their privacy. Once you step inside, the entire experience changes. We designed the floor plan to wrap around a lush, east-facing courtyard. This layout allows the main living areas to catch the soft morning sun and lets air flow naturally through the space. We also positioned the service areas to the west, ensuring the core of the house stays cool and surrounded by greenery all day long.

Standard floor plans dictate a dining area. But for this project, pure intentionality meant designing for the owners' peace, rather than the demands of entertaining.

By intentionally omitting the dining area, we created an unforced, breathable flow between the living space and the kitchen. Grounded in warm wood and tactile concrete, it is a highly personal sanctuary designed to protect their quiet, daily routines. Architecture for the unrushed.

Enclosed by firewalls on three sides, this 6m x 16m site presented a unique challenge: How do we bring the outdoors in without sacrificing privacy?

​The answer lay in subtraction. By carving out pocket gardens and strategic air wells, we turned the constraints into assets. These voids act as passive cooling engines, pulling fresh air and natural light into the deepest corners of the home.

​The result is the Daylight House, a home that feels expansive, regardless of its footprint.
