“Always the planner, never the planned for.”
That line hits different when you’re a mom.
Because I am the planner.
The balloon blower.
The cake cutter.
The last one to eat.
The first one to notice what’s missing.
I’m the one staying up late, making sure birthdays feel magical, school projects get done, and everyone has what they need—emotionally and otherwise.
I’m the memory keeper. The peacekeeper. The background noise holding it all together.
But when it’s my turn…
It’s quiet.
No decorations.
No surprise dinner.
Just another day—unless I plan it myself.
And it’s not that I need a big celebration.
It’s just that… I want to feel seen.
Not just as “Mom.”
But as me.
The one who’s always giving.
Always remembering.
Always showing up.
So if you’re reading this and you feel the same way—
You’re not alone.
To the moms who hold everything together behind the scenes:
You deserve to be held, too.
Maybe this year, we stop waiting.
We show up for ourselves.
We plan the cake, the day off, the moment.
For us.
Because being a mom shouldn’t mean being forgotten.
