Before building a 3-storey house with roof deck, a soil test (geotechnical investigation) must be done to check if the ground can safely support the structure. Engineers drill boreholes, collect soil samples, and test them in a lab to know the soil’s strength, type, water level, and load-bearing capacity.

The results guide the foundation design ,whether standard footings are enough or if deeper/more reinforced foundations are needed. This prevents cracks, uneven settlement, or collapse, ensuring the building’s safety and structural integrity.
