We are 3 students from Técnico. We want to address an environmental issue in Arco do Cego: the excessive amount of cups decorating the park each night. To help the environment and the residents of this area, we need your participation. We are building a device that consists of two bins and can be seen as an interactive survey. You will be able to find it on the sid
ewalk next to the park at the sides of the bars. Above the opening of the bins you will find a different controversial question every week. When you have emptied your cup (or cups, because let’s face it, we’re students), please put the cups one by one into the opening corresponding to your choice. A sensor will add up 1 to the score for every plastic cup you put in. With this device we are hoping to improve the image of Arco do Cego and recycle all the plastic that is a result of the beer consumption. The cups that are thrown to the ground do not get recycled, which because of the considerable amount has a big impact on the environment. We provided a scale that illustrates your impact by recycling a certain amount of cups. This page will keep you up to date about the results, our progress and articles regarding this environmental issue. Let’s make Arco do Cego a park with as less impact on the environment as it has on your wallet!
