This is Wada’s Primrose clematis, already full of blooms and buds at the base of the old walnut tree.
Soon, it will start to climb, weaving itself up the textured trunk and reaching for the soft light filtering through the canopy above.

🇭🇺 Majdnem befejeztem a régi szürke szegély cseréjét (lásd a jobb oldali ágyásszegélyt) erre az antik stílusúra a diófák alatt 🤍 A kavicsos ösvények is hamarosan elkészülnek.

Néha úgy érzem, hogy ez a kert soha nem lesz igazán kész. De talán pont ez a lényeg… a kertészkedés folyamatosan türelemre tanít.

Néhány növény már kezd kibújni, de ebbe a két árnyékos ágyásba, amik majd a diófák sűrű nyári lombkoronája alatt bújnak meg, még több páfrányt és árnyékliliomot kell ültessek, hogy kialakítsam álmaim erdei hangulatú kertjét. 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿

🇬🇧 I’m almost done replacing the old grey edging (see right side border) with this antique-style border under the walnut trees 🤍 And the gravel paths will follow soon.

Some days it feels like this garden will never be “finished.” But maybe that’s the point… gardening keeps reminding me to slow down and be patient.

A few plants are already starting to emerge, but these two shade beds - hidden under the dense summer canopy of the walnut trees - still need more ferns and hostas. My dream is to turn this space into two lush woodland garden beds.🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿

🇬🇧 From ruins to something beautiful

This little rock garden has a story. Every stone you see here once belonged to an old fence that stood for years before it was taken down. Instead of letting those pieces fade into the past, I gave them a new purpose.

Nestled between the stones, I planted phlox subulata, sempervivum, creeping thyme, delosperma, and a small creeping juniper (Juniperus squamata)... small, resilient plants that thrive where you least expect them 🌸

Reclaimed. Reimagined. Rooted in history.



🇭🇺 Romokból valami szépet

Ennek a kis sziklakertnek története van. Minden kő, amit itt látsz, egy régi kerítés része volt, amely évekig állt, mielőtt lebontottuk. Nem hagytam, hogy ezek a darabok a múlt homályába vesszenek, új célt adtam nekik.

A kövek közé árlevelű lángvvirágot (phlox subulata), kövirózsát (sempervivum), keskenylevelű kakukkfüvet (thymus serpyllum), kristályvirágot (delosperma), valamint egy törpe borókát (juniperus squamata) ültettem… apró, ellenálló növényeket, amelyek ott is megélnek, ahol a legkevésbé számítanál rájuk 🌸

Újrahasznosítva. Újragondolva. A történelemben gyökerezve.

Two years ago, when I visited my friend in Witney, Oxfordshire, I fell completely in love with a dark-leafed dahlia in her garden - those deep leaves and the most gorgeous pink flowers I’d ever seen 😍

I’ve been looking for it ever since back home in Romania… but no luck.

And today, something truly special arrived 🥰
A packet from her - filled with dahlia and rhubarb bulbs, and flower seeds.

It turns out she remembered. She paid attention to that small moment I probably mentioned just once… and turned it into the most thoughtful gift.

I’m honestly so touched. It’s not just about the plants - it’s about being seen, remembered, and cared for in such a quiet, beautiful way.

I can’t wait to plant them and watch that little piece of her garden grow here with me.

First gardening day of the year 🌿

Three hours of pruning roses, two more shaping perennials and hydrangeas, and now my fingers and wrist are definitely feeling it. Worth it? Absolutely. But let’s just say a pair of electric pruning shears has officially made it onto next season’s shopping list.

I also gave the cut, dry perennials a second life by grinding them into mulch with my Vonroc mulcher. 🌱

As the sun started to set, I took a slow walk around the garden, dreaming and planning. Where do I need more height? Which beds need stronger structure? Of course, the walk ended with adding even more items to my already too long to-do list: finish the borders of the new beds, complete the garden path in front of the shed, and about a hundred other little projects.

The list could probably keep me busy for years… but as a weekend gardener, I’m in no rush. Ideas grow slowly here, just like the plants.

Ended the day with a photo of tulips and daffodils peeking through in the sunset. A quiet promise that the season has officially begun. 🌷🪻

🇭🇺 Az év első kertészkedős napja 🌿

Három óra rózsametszés, további kettő az évelők és a hortenziák formára igazításával, és most az ujjaim és a csuklóm sajog. Megérte? Abszolút. De az biztos, hogy a következő szezon bevásárlólistájára felkerült egy elektromos metszőolló is.

A levágott száraz nyesedékek új szerepet kaptak, és a Vonroc aprítógépemmel mulcsot készítettem belőlük. 🌱

Napnyugtakor tettem egy lassú sétát a kertben, álmodozva és tervezgetve. Hova kellene magasabb növény? Mely ágyások igényelnek karakteresebb szerkezetet? A séta természetesen azzal végződött, hogy még több tétel került az amúgy is túl hosszú teendőlistámra: befejezni az új ágyások szegélyét, elkészíteni a kerti utat a fészer előtt, és még vagy száz apró projekt.

A lista valószínűleg évekre lekötne… de hétvégi kertészként nem sietek. Itt az ötletek lassan teljesednek be, akárcsak a növények.

A napot egy fotóval zártam az ágyásból kikukucskáló tulipánokról és nárciszokról. Csendes ígéret arra, hogy a kertészszezon hivatalosan is elkezdődött. 🌷🪻
