The Mobella Galleria Building Renovation marks the relocation of Mobella’s showroom to a new site, where an existing building is being transformed into a showroom and gallery space.

The design began with a simple objective “ reuse as much as possible”. Terracotta tiles from the original showroom were carefully dismantled and reassembled as a new boundary wall, while existing lighting and air conditioning systems were relocated and adapted for their new setting.

Rather than starting over, the project carries forward materials and memories from the previous showroom, giving them a second life in a new place.

Following the completion of the rice straw brick canteen, the owner initiated an additional project at the rear of the site. This new building functions as a rice milling facility, together with a laboratory for rice quality testing and office spaces for the staff of LPP Rice Bran Oil.

The ground floor mainly serves as a public reception area, including coordination spaces for trucks delivering rice to the facility. The second floor is designed as a general working area for company staff, while the third floor houses the rice quality testing laboratory. This laboratory is directly connected to the rice milling machine through dedicated walkways and stair access, allowing rice samples to be transported conveniently and efficiently from the milling process into the testing area.

หลังจากการก่อสร้างโรงอาหารจากอิฐฟางข้าวเสร็จสิ้น ทางเจ้าของได้มีการพัฒนาโครงการเพิ่มเติมบริเวณด้านหลังของพื้นที่ โดยเป็นอาคารที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นโรงฉำข้าว พร้อมห้องทดลองสำหรับทดสอบคุณภาพข้าว รวมถึงพื้นที่สำนักงานสำหรับพนักงานของบริษัท แอลพีพี ไรซ์บรานออยล์ ด้วย

พื้นที่ชั้นหนึ่งส่วนใหญ่ถูกออกแบบให้เป็นพื้นที่ต้อนรับทั่วไป รวมถึงพื้นที่ประสานงานสำหรับรถบรรทุกที่นำข้าวมาส่งยังโรงงาน ชั้นสองเป็นพื้นที่ทำงานสำหรับพนักงานทั่วไป ส่วนชั้นสามเป็นห้องทดลองทดสอบคุณภาพข้าว ซึ่งเชื่อมต่อโดยตรงกับเครื่องฉำข้าวผ่านทางเดินและบันได เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกในการนำตัวอย่างข้าวจากกระบวนการฉำข้าวเข้าสู่พื้นที่ห้องทดลองได้อย่างรวดเร็วและมีประสิทธิภาพ

PHTAA had the opportunity to design the building for the rice bran oil production facility of LPP Oil.

Located in an open rural area, the factory has long faced challenges related to birds, rain, and harsh sunlight. The project explored 3 simple construction systems using common materials steel structure, corrugated metal sheets, and perforated steel mesh to create an envelope that could provide shading, ventilation, rain protection, and reduce disturbance from birds.

An exploration of how ordinary materials and straightforward construction methods can respond carefully to the everyday environmental conditions of industrial spaces.

ทาง PHTAA ได้มีโอกาสออกแบบกรอบอาคารสำหรับโรงงานผลิตน้ำมันรำข้าวของ LPP Oil ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่โล่งนอกเมือง และต้องเผชิญกับปัญหาเรื่องสัตว์ปีก ฝน และแสงแดดมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง

แนวทางการออกแบบจึงเป็นการทดลองระบบการก่อสร้างอย่างเรียบง่าย 3 รูปแบบ โดยใช้วัสดุพื้นฐานที่หาได้ทั่วไป ได้แก่ โครงสร้างเหล็ก แผ่น corrugated metal sheet และตะแกรงเหล็กรู เพื่อสร้างกรอบอาคารที่สามารถช่วยบังแดด ระบายอากาศ ป้องกันฝน และลดปัญหาสัตว์ปีกได้ในเวลาเดียวกัน

โปรเจกต์นี้จึงกลายเป็นการสำรวจว่าการใช้วัสดุธรรมดาและวิธีการก่อสร้างที่ตรงไปตรงมา สามารถช่วยให้งานสถาปัตยกรรมตอบสนองต่อสภาพแวดล้อมจริงของพื้นที่อุตสาหกรรมได้อย่างระมัดระวังมากขึ้นอย่างไร

The building is located within an industrial estate and functions as a communal canteen for all users. The design approach focuses on natural ventilation, allowing continuous airflow throughout the space to enhance thermal comfort while providing shade for the dining areas, mitigating heat and direct sunlight from the surrounding factory environment.

In terms of material strategy, the entire building envelope is constructed using concrete block masonry. In collaboration with mflex factory, we experimented with the production process of the blocks by partially replacing sand and concrete with rice straw and rice husk waste from the rice milling process. This resulted in lighter weight blocks with improved thermal insulation properties, reducing heat transfer from the exterior to the interior.

อาคารแห่งนี้ตั้งอยู่ภายในเขตนิคมอุตสาหกรรม ทำหน้าที่เป็นโรงอาหารสำหรับทุกคนในพื้นที่ โจทย์หลักของการออกแบบมุ่งเน้นไปที่การสร้าง natural ventilation เพื่อให้เกิดการไหลเวียนของอากาศตลอดเวลา ช่วยเพิ่มภาวะสบายในการใช้งาน พร้อมทั้งสร้างร่มเงาให้กับพื้นที่โรงอาหาร เพื่อลดผลกระทบจากแสงแดดและความร้อนที่มาจากบริเวณโรงงานโดยรอบ

ในด้านแนวคิดเรื่องวัสดุ ตัวอาคารเลือกใช้ คอนกรีตบล็อกก่อผนังตลอดทั้งอาคาร โดยได้ร่วมทดลองกับ M-Flex ในกระบวนการผลิตอิฐบล็อก เพื่อพัฒนาวัสดุให้ตอบรับกับบริบทของพื้นที่ ด้วยการนำเศษฟางและแกลบที่เหลือจากกระบวนการสีข้าว มาใช้ทดแทนทรายและคอนกรีตบางส่วนภายในบล็อก ผลลัพธ์คือวัสดุที่มีน้ำหนักเบาลง และช่วยลดการถ่ายเทความร้อนจากภายนอกเข้าสู่ภายในอาคารได้ดีขึ้น

แนวทางนี้ไม่เพียงช่วยเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพด้านสภาวะน่าสบายภายในอาคารเท่านั้น แต่ยังทำให้เจ้าของโครงการสามารถนำของเหลือทิ้งจากโรงสีข้าวของตนเองกลับมาใช้เป็นวัสดุประกอบอาคารได้อีกครั้ง เกิดเป็นวงจรการใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างคุ้มค่า และสะท้อนแนวคิดการออกแบบที่เชื่อมโยงสถาปัตยกรรมเข้ากับบริบทและกระบวนการผลิต
