In the Shandong province of China, a farmer named Hu Guangzhou spent an entire decade constructing a remarkable seven-story house using only his hands and scavenged materials.

Driven by a deep sense of family loyalty, Hu built the towering structure with a singular purpose: to provide a home for his brothers.

Despite his limited resources and physical labor, he meticulously added floor after floor, creating a landmark that captured the attention of his entire village.

The story is underscored by a poignant reality: local residents have frequently shared that Hu’s brothers passed away years ago.

However, Hu, who lives with mental health challenges, has remained steadfast in his belief that they are alive and will eventually return to join him.

While local authorities have monitored the site due to safety concerns regarding its hand-built architecture, the house remains a symbol of Hu’s enduring hope.

It stands as a physical manifestation of his dedication, proving that his love for his family is as resilient as the structure he spent ten years raising.

For over five years, marine biologists have been investigating why a critically endangered pod of killer whales has systematically targeted maritime vessels in European waters.

Since 2020, Iberian orcas navigating the busy coasts of Spain, Portugal, and Morocco have engaged in nearly 700 distinct interactions with boats, ranging from tactical nudges to violent rammings that tear off rudders.

While no humans have been harmed, several vessels have sustained catastrophic hull damage and sunk, transforming a strange behavioral quirk into a serious maritime hazard.

The origin of this coordinated behavior is believed to trace back to a single dominant female orca nicknamed "White Gladis."

A leading behavioral theory suggests she suffered a traumatic collision or line entanglement with a boat, flipping an aggressive behavioral switch that nearby pod members quickly mimicked.

This trait has since spread across generations to a localized group of roughly 15 individuals, with adult orcas observed guiding calves to boats to practice the maneuver.

This generational transfer mirrors how killer whale pods pass down complex hunting techniques as distinct cultural lineages. However, many cetacean researchers favor a simpler alternative explanation: it may simply be an addictive, playful game that the whales find highly stimulating.

With fewer than 40 individuals remaining in the critically endangered Iberian population, finding a non-lethal deterrent is vital to protecting both mariners and the whales.

The ground suddenly opened up beneath him.
In March 2013, a terrible accident happened in Seffner, Florida, when a huge sinkhole opened under the bedroom of 37-year-old Jeffrey Bush. The hole swallowed his bed, his furniture, and part of the house within seconds.
His brother, Jeremy, heard a loud crash and Jeffrey screaming for help. When he ran to the room, all he saw was a deep hole where the bedroom used to be.
Desperate to save his brother, Jeremy jumped into the collapsing ground and tried to dig him out with his hands and a shovel. But the ground kept falling in, so deputies pulled him out before the whole house collapsed.
Rescuers tried their best, but Jeffrey’s body was never found. The ground was too unstable, and they had to stop the search.
The sinkhole was almost 20 feet wide and very deep, so the family’s home was later torn down for safety.
Florida often has sinkholes because of its soft limestone ground, especially in an area known as “Sinkhole Alley.” But experts said this sinkhole was unusually sudden and dangerous.
Jeffrey’s family was left heartbroken, a painful reminder of how quickly life can change when nature strikes without warning.

Across some of its harshest arid landscapes, including Inner Mongolia and the Gobi Desert, China is deploying fleets of autonomous, solar-powered robots to spearhead massive reforestation initiatives.
These specialized machines navigate extreme wilderness conditions to automate the labor-intensive stages of land restoration—drilling precise holes, inserting seedlings, and applying targeted watering.
Guided by a sophisticated combination of GPS navigation, artificial intelligence, and precision robotics, this automated workforce operates continuously under the sun.
By removing human limitations from the equation, the technology dramatically accelerates the speed and accuracy of tree planting in environments where manual labor is slow, exhausting, and logistically difficult.

Iran have been told they must enter and leave US soil on the same day of matches while ‘integral’ members of their coaching staff have been denied visas to the World Cup.
The country’s ambassador to Mexico, where the squad is staying thanks to the ongoing conflict with the US, said on Saturday that their players would have to be in and out of the US within 24 hours.
Iran – whose group matches are in Los Angeles and Seattle – were due to stay in Tucson, Arizona but will now fly in.
‘We can enter in the morning and we must leave the same day,’ Iran's envoy Abolfazl Pasandideh told reporters.
US officials said visas have been issued to all players and ‘necessary support staff’ ahead of their June 16 opener.
They added that Iran would not be allowed to ‘abuse this system to sneak terrorists into the United States under false pretences’.
However, Iran’s embassy in Turkey said visas had been denied to ‘a large portion of the managerial and executive staff’ and accused the Americans of ‘politically biased interference in sport’. They claimed visas had been denied to a ‘large portion of the managerial and executive staff’ and ‘technical advisers’.
Iranian state media claimed the head of the football federation and his deputy were among those denied entry.
Iran open their World Cup account against New Zealand in California on June 16, before facing Belgium and Egypt in California and Seattle, respectively.

Hundreds of pilot whales have been slaughtered in the Faroe Islands as part of an annual tradition.
The coast of the North Atlantic archipelago was turned a disturbing crimson red as the blood of the animals stained the sea, with crowds including young children watching on.
The 'grindadrap', or 'grind' for short, is a Viking tradition that sees pilot whales and dolphins encircled and driven into shallow waters with boats.
The terrified animals are beached, and fishermen then brutally slaughter them with knives on the shore, with locals then eating their meat and blubber as part of the 1,000-year-old Faroese tradition.
But every summer, shocking images of the bloody hunt show the macabre ritual, which is strongly condemned by outraged animal rights defenders who consider the practice barbaric.
However, the Faroese state, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark, argues that the grindadrap is an integral part of the region's cultural identity and the event provides free food for the community.
In some of the gruesome pictures of this year's ritual, dozens of carcasses were lined up along the shorefront, with their blood seeping into the waves.
Fishermen could be seen wading up to their chests in the vibrant waters while fins poked out of the water.

A convicted pa******le who killed a toddler in a hit-and-run is terrorising an Adelaide suburb, with furious locals claiming police are powerless to stop him.
Michael Craig Bullock, 60, has a history of sexual offending against children stretching back more than 30 years, including unlawful sexual in*******se with a six-year-old girl.
He also ran over two-year-old Zayne Colson in February 2017 as the boy played outside his home, then drove away - leaving the child's nappy 'embedded in the road'.
Zayne was knocked unconscious by the impact and dragged several metres beneath Bullock's vehicle. He died from his injuries about one hour after the hit-run.
A District Court jury found Bullock guilty in 2019 of aggravated driving without due care and leaving the scene of an accident after causing death.
He was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison, but he is now free and has the attention of concerned parents in Adelaide's southern suburbs.
They claim he is regularly seen prowling outside local schools, acting aggressively and making suggestive comments about his ge****ls to passing women.
One local told The Daily Mail that Bullock recently followed a woman home while shirtless, with chandelier-style earrings hanging from his ni***es.
