There are places you visit once — and they stay with you.

This is the women’s group in Panykel I also met some years ago. Strong, committed, and walking their journey together. In the first week of May, they will reach an important milestone: the disbursement of their shared savings — the result of trust, discipline, and collective effort.

In preparation for this moment, we sat together and talked about financial literacy. About making informed decisions, planning ahead, and using their hard-earned savings in ways that truly support their goals, their families, and their futures.

Because it’s not just about saving money.
It’s about knowing what to do with it.
It’s about confidence, independence, and opportunity.

And seeing these women grow — together — is something truly special.

This is Rugby, too: It may sound like a small shift in words — but it tells a much bigger story.

For a long time, Menstrual Hygiene Management was the term people used. The focus was clear: sanitary pads, access to water, safe toilets. Essential support — but mostly centered on girls and women, and on the practical side of managing menstruation.

But the conversation has grown.

Today, we speak more and more about Menstrual Health Management. And that changes everything. It’s not just about products or facilities — it’s about knowledge, rights, dignity. It’s about breaking stigma, challenging taboos, and creating spaces where menstruation is understood, not hidden.

And it also matters who is part of that conversation.
We don’t just teach girls and women — we include boys and men too. Because change only happens when everyone understands, supports, and speaks openly.

This isn’t only about hygiene.
It’s about health, confidence, and equality — on and off the rugby pitch.

Because knowledge is power. And it belongs to all of us.

We don’t just talk — we perform.
Through music, dance & drama, communities feel the impact of child marriage.
Stories come alive. Voices are heard. Change begins. Because real change starts when hearts are moved. ❤️

🌍✨ Over the past few weeks, the Rugby Tackling Life team has been hard at work in Tumangu, Panykel, Yepa, and Dagwach in Kitgum District in Northern Uganda! 🌱

Our meetings are thriving with growing groups who are making incredible strides. They’re mastering liquid soap making to generate extra income, even while many tend to their farms. 🌿🧼

The community has also introduced a savings box to collectively grow sim sim, ensuring nutritious meals for disabled children and adults who are suffering from nodding disease. 🌾❤️

But that’s not all – we’re having crucial conversations about child marriage, learning how to combat it, and gaining essential sexual reproductive health information. 👧🚫💬

We’re incredibly proud of our team’s dedication and can’t wait to share more updates with you. Stay tuned! 💪🏽🙌🏾

Happy birthday to me!
I have all I need and much more so instead of presents I would love you to support Rugby Tackling Life - RTL
and this is why: During my last visit to Uganda, I had the privilege of spending several days with Flavia and the RTL (Rugby Tackling Life) team in and around Kitgum. Together, we ventured into communities afflicted by the nodding disease, accompanying them to workshops aimed at providing support and solutions. Prior to this experience, I hadn’t fully comprehended the severity of the situation in these areas. The stark realities of poverty, limited access to healthcare facilities, and the struggles of providing food for their disabled children were deeply unsettling. Witnessing these challenges firsthand left me profoundly shocked…
Please help us to make some changes so that people can make informed decisions about their lives.

2024 continues as it ended: Rugby Tackling Life - RTL is reaching out in communities. This includes making pads, running HIV and malaria tests, health consultations and playing Rugby.
And it works. Very well!
