Today we had a rain day so we started a new adventure at Triad Tree Care that I’ve been looking to do for a long time. We started milling lumber. We started today with black walnut and you can see how beautiful it is. If you know anyone looking for someone to mill a log or someone looking for a slab let us know.

Please!!!! For the love of every tree service owner and worker or future tree people…….DO NOT PUT METAL, OR IN THIS CASE 600LBS. OF CONCRETE ANYWHERE NEAR A TREE!!! Back in the 50’s and 60’s it was common practice to fill a void in a tree with cement to keep out water and insects to slow down decay. It was also common to “stake” a tree with a metal post to keep it from leaning. Well nearly 75 years later these pictures are the result of just that. The tree will actually grow around the stakes if they are not removed.

This is a great explanation of something we get asked for quite often as a way to save a few dollars. This practice is outdated and not supported by the TCIA. In the long run the tree will require more pruning and eventually need to be removed due to disease or outright death.
