To Our Clients, Colleagues, Friends and Business Partners,
Our office will be closing beginning on Friday, December 23rd 2022 at 5:00pm with business to resume as usual on Monday, January 2nd 2023 at 8:00am in observance of the Holiday season as well as our continued promise to steward a culture of wellness at our firm.
Although our offices will be closed, our Project Managers who are leading project efforts during construction will be checking their emails & messages daily and addressing urgent matters.

Project Spotlight: Featured Sketch

We continually strive to enhance the patient, visitor and caregiver experience in hospitals and medical buildings, which are too frequently an illegible maze of hallways and rooms. It's hard to find one's way around, and you may even feel lost in the building, increasing stress, detracting from wellness and patients' healing.

Envision Architects created a model to alleviate this phenomenon that greatly improves how patients move through the facility. For our clients at The Children's Specialty Hospital, we've designed "neighborhoods" or clusters of program sectors in order to centralize and organize the activity through a complex building. This allows us to create an environment where people can confidently move through space, enjoying various architectural and interior design features, materials, views and graphics, while visiting patients, performing diagnostic tests, or working with other staff members on patient care activities. 

It is important to our team to continue creating memorable legible places that support healing and the occupant experience. Our innovative healthcare designs have been recognized by industry leaders as well as our peers in architecture for their clarity in wayfinding and fun, memorable designs.

Staff Profile: Insights from Alper Bozlak

Alper Bozlak is an Associate and Interior Designer on our Envision team. As we highlight the firm's work, we also like to share insights from our team, including their motivators and process as designers. from Alper, on designing for healthcare clients:

"I’ve had broad experiences across different projects, but healthcare projects can have the most rewarding process with a profound impact on those who use the spaces that are built. One of the most important aspects of healthcare design is creating a space that is conducive to healing. This means incorporating elements like sustainable design, adequate lighting, and effective acoustics. As designers, we have the tools for achieving great design solutions, but it’s the process of thoughtful discussions that lead our work for the success of our clients and the health of the patients.

My focus every day is on who are the end users within the space? What are the users trying to accomplish here? There are spatial and end user relationships that can’t be separated or isolated in a highly collaborative work environment. It’s only after we meet at length with doctors, nurses and advocates of the patients that we can design for functionality, flow and a multitude of ways to connect spaces together. I feel most successful when I truly understand how people use the space and the architectural designs where I can enable great healing environments to occur with dignity and integrity."

Please help us welcome Madeleine Farnsworth to the Envision Team!

Madeleine joined us recently, and we are truly enjoying collaborating with her on various projects. Madeleine’s work emphasizes contextual and materials-driven design. Prior to joining Envision as a project designer, she worked for several architecture offices in Oregon, and focused on master planning, residential and adaptive reuse projects. Madeleine holds a Bachelor of Arts, and concurrent Master’s degrees in Architecture and Interior Architecture from the University of Oregon.

Welcome Kevin! Envision Architects recently hired Kevin Kim as a summer Student Design Intern. Kevin Kim is a Bachelor of Architecture student at the University of Notre Dame. This is his first internship at a professional design firm. Kevin is also a graphic designer who has worked with local businesses and organizations including Shaker High School, where he designed the school’s logo in 2018. He has crowdfunded several successful Kickstarter campaigns including a collaborative art project with the Beacon Children’s Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. Kevin is a licensed real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Prime Properties in the Capital Region. Originally from South Korea, he now lives in Albany. In Kevin’s free time, he enjoys exercising, spending time with family, collecting baseball cards, and cheering on the Fighting Irish.

Welcome Allie! Envision Architects recently hired Allison Austin as Project Designer and Kevin Kim as a summer Student Design Intern. Each of these talented professionals brings a variety of skills and a shared approach to teamwork and project excellence.

Allison (Allie) Austin is a recent graduate of Norwich University in Vermont where she earned her Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Master in Architecture. She developed a passion for architecture through photography, which gave her an appreciation for spatial composition. She returned to Albany post-graduation to pursue a career in architecture while also contributing to her community. In her free time, Allie enjoys hiking in the Adirondacks, gardening, and traveling to new environments. Through architecture she wishes to contribute to the development of well-designed spaces for an evolving society.

Full pandemic WFH is finally behind us, but the remote working abilities we have honed over the past 2 years continue to keep the team strong and focused when we need flexibility, from the road and within our new hybrid schedule.
