I grew up right here in Central Louisiana, where like so many of us, I’ve always loved the water. Living in the Garden District of Alexandria, I learned the ins and outs of pool care while keeping my own pool safe and swimmable for my two young sons. Teaching them how to swim sparked a passion in me. I wanted the water to be perfect, and I didn’t want to cut corners.

What I found was that local pool service options were limited: either overpriced, inconsistent, or simply unavailable without a long waitlist. So I took matters into my own hands. I studied water chemistry, invested in the right tools, and built a system of care that I would trust for my own family.

That’s how Cenla Pool Doctor was born. My mission is simple: to give Alexandria and Pineville a better option for pool maintenance. High-quality service, fair prices, no waiting lists, and no cutting corners.

With freezing temperatures expected, I wanted to send a quick reminder on how to protect your pool and equipment during cold weather. A little preparation goes a long way in preventing cracked pipes, damaged pumps, and costly repairs.

Please follow these tips during freezing conditions:

• Run your pump 24 hours a day when temperatures are at or below freezing.

• If your pump is on a timer, unscrew and remove the On/Off pins on it or set it to run continuously until the freeze passes.

• Flowing water is the best protection against frozen pipes.

• Make sure all valves are open so water can circulate through the entire system.

• If you have exposed pipes or above-ground equipment, cover them with towels or insulation if possible.

• If your system has freeze protection, double-check that it is turned on and working properly.

• After the freeze, do a quick visual check for leaks or unusual noises and let me know if anything looks off.

Please remember that between my service visits, pool owners are responsible for day-to-day operation of their equipment, especially during extreme weather. Running the pump during freezes is critical and helps avoid damage that is not preventable after the fact.
