💗💚 VINTAGE OR REPRODUCTION? 💚💗

Can you tell which is which? 👀

✨ LEFT: Reproduction
✨ RIGHT: Vintage

Bok Choy porcelain is loved for its vibrant green and turquoise glazes, intricate floral designs, and those beautiful sculptural details! 🌿🌸 But while newer reproductions can look remarkably similar to older pieces, there are a few clues collectors can look for.

🔎 HOW TO SPOT THE DIFFERENCE:

🌿 1. The base & maker’s marks — Always turn the piece over! Look at the backstamp, country of origin, foot rim, and any identifying marks. Compare them with documented examples from the maker. Remember, older marks can be copied, too.

🌿 2. The glaze & finish — Study the glaze in natural light. Look at how it pools around raised details, the consistency of the colors, and the overall finish. Newer pieces may have a more uniform, factory-fresh appearance, but this isn’t a rule!

🌿 3. The craftsmanship — Examine the molded details, painted decoration, handles, and overall shape. Compare the quality and techniques with known examples from the same period.

🌿 4. Signs of age — Genuine age may show through natural wear on the foot, small firing imperfections, or wear in areas that have been handled over time. Be careful, though: damage can be faked, and some older pieces remain in excellent condition.

🌿 5. Research is everything! — Compare the piece with verified examples, check its provenance, and consider an expert opinion before making a final call.

✨ The biggest lesson? Never judge porcelain by appearance alone! A beautiful piece can be vintage or a modern reproduction, and one clue rarely tells the whole story.
