So often when bathroom vents are replaced there is just the smallest of gaps around the perimeter of the fan. You don't need to panic, it can be fixed easily. The photos are of two bathrooms in the same home that had this issue with a 1/4" or less of a gap along the edge of the vent. I patched it up, texture matched and primed where necessary so it's ready to be painted.

I always remove all wall fixtures and hangings especially in bathrooms. It's a good idea to always be looking for ways to minimize places to cut in. This keeps each coat of paint as even and consistent as possible.

This project was a multiple room project in west Ames that included the kitchen, living room and master bath room. The customer chose to change their home's color palette from dark and rich to light and airy. It really opened up the space.
