Not gonna lie, I got super teary on meeting Suzanne Ciani at NAMM this year. She’s been a powerhouse of musical innovation since the 1970s right up to today, with a career covering music production, composing, sound design, advertising, and so much more. Known as “Diva of the Diode”, she has been an inspiration to so many of us.

Here, she stands in front of a wall of vintage ARPs which we’ve restored. These were at the ARP Foundation booth at the show. If you’re not familiar with the incredible work they do, do click over to and give them a follow! Suzanne herself can be found at 🎹❤️

Nollaig shona daoibh, agus athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh go léir freisin. Happy Christmas, everyone, and best wishes for the New Year.

The gameplan here is to use some holiday time to get the workshop up and running, and to greet the New Year with a bunch of repaired instruments. I have good feelings about 2026, and I’m delighted to be back home in Ireland 🇮🇪

Look after yerselves - take some time off, get some family time in, and recharge your batteries! 🎄☀️❤️🇮🇪

Another magic moment from the NAMM Show this year. I was working hard at the ARP Foundation booth, showing off the 50+ year vintage synths and telling folks about the Foundation, so I ended up grabbing some dude and his entourage and pulling them into the booth. I immediately realised it was DJ Jazzy Jeff that I’d accosted - lol.

This guy - - hung back. “Where you from?”, sez he. “I’m from Ireland - Dublin.” “Bangor here - ‘bout ye?”, sez he 🤣 So we had to snap a quick photo.

It truly is a tiny world, and even tinier on the inside of the music industry.

Back to this. It arrived here as a basket case, didn’t power up, made no sound. And of course, lots of dead tantalum caps, sliders and one or two op-amps. These are quite rare these days, and we’re really built to work alongside the ARP Odyssey, augmenting their sound. I had low expectations when I set this one up, but they make a significant difference to the Odyssey sound!!

One of my favourite moments from the NAMM Show last spring. We’d set up all the vintage ARPs at the booth for the ARP Foundation, and got it all powered up and plumbed in when one of the first people to arrive was a dad and his son.

Kid was fascinated by the vintage keyboards. “Can I see?” Sure - come on up!

So kid got to jam out on 50-year-old vintage synthesisers, and he had a blast! I can’t help but wonder did this spark an interest, and we’re looking at the next keyboard wizard.

From last summer - dropping off a Solina at Mark Pistel’s awesome studios in San Francisco. When I think of my time in the US, I miss times like this the most.

A Moog Little Phatty from a while back. This one had an issue where the pots and display stopped working. Root cause turned out to be an SMT-type inter-board connector that, due to mechanical stress and time, tore itself off the PCB.

I’m not big into SMT work, but a bit of “drag soldering” and flux, and it’s 100% working again. Here’s Gracie giving it a final test!!

A Prophet-600 appears out of another box. This one has the GliGli processor, custom end cheeks, and Prophet-5 k***s.

It powers up after switching to 220V, runs the tune process, and maybe 5 of 6 voice work. Half the keyboard is dead, plus half the front panel. Thus some obscure digital-side issue, most likely.

A repair for a rainy day, I reckon. This one’s mine, BTW.
