Hello, my name is Dylan and I work full time at a foundation company installing piers and waterproofing basements among many other things. One of the major things I have noticed on my job is gutter downspouts installed incorrectly, or being old and decayed/chewed through. Almost every home we repair is like this, and it causes a lot of the foundation issues we deal with. Over time the soil becomes loose where the downspout is compromised and creates settlement, the foundation starts to weaken, crack, and bow and then before long waters inside. This is partly because the corrugated pipe isn’t very strong and doesn’t hold up to animals and the elements over time. As a foolproof solution we use 4” pvc pipe which is much stronger and made to withstand the elements, and then we run it to an angled yard well away from the home. We offer a simple solution where the problems start before they turn into costly foundation repairs. Give me a shout I’ll be happy to help!
