As a custom home builder specifically building homes which are Mold Resistant and as Low Toxicity as possible, we all face the same challenges together to live in safe places.
Today, we received lumber from the lumber company, which we provided strict instructions to the lumber company concerning mold on the lumber.
These are the images from 15 minutes ago for a family that has 1 parent with mold illness, and 2 or 3 of the kids have Pans or Pandas.
I want to normalize how these multinational corporations don't think about moldy lumber and send whatever is oldest to save money, or send this kind of lumber, and hope they can get away with it.
I've worked with 8 lumber companies over the years and they mostly the same. Some of the local mom and pop shops are much better, but also much more expensive.
We will inspect every board before we put it in the home. It is safe to assume the lumber throughout this bunk is all covered in mold as it clearly sat in the elements without any covering for a long time.
Be your own best advocate and don't be afraid to go battle for this. The owner even asked me if we had to pay for the same lumber again, and I told him absolutely not.
