Why order a whole pizza if you only want a slice? Sometimes you just want help with SOME of a job, to save money, to do the parts you're comfortable with, to practice skills yourself... whatever the reason might be, let Blue Ox Workshop be your partner!

These homeowners wanted help with their bathroom renovation. Specifically, a new shower insert, glass door, exhaust fan (and roof vent), walls/trim for the shower alcove, and the necessary plumbing adjustments. They took on the demo, tile floors, fixtures, paint, wall texture, toilet, vanity, and finishing touches. So we agreed on my scope and sequenced our tasks. Now that I'm done with my portion, I'll leave the rest in their capable hands, while remaining just a call away in case their needs change! What projects do you have that you need just a little extra help with? Reach out for the scope you need, and nothing more!

The second half of this inspection punchlist was knocked out with a Blue Ox one-two!

Sealing gaps in the logs, re-sealing doors and windows where water was getting in, replacing broken or missing window sash locks, securing loose and peeling wood siding on the garage, adding cross braces to both balconies that swayed with every step, adding new posts to the bottom of these very loose railings, and reshaping a damaged gutter to at least be functional! All while working within a budget for a client to address the highest priorities.

Is your chimney on a roof too steep to sweep unless you're a rocky mountain sheep? Don't sleep on your needs, call a handyman please!

I'm helping my client with a punchlist from an inspection report, and one of the items was cleaning this very tall chimney on a gorgeous wood stove to minimize fire risk, while trying not to make a big mess. Blue Ox Workshop was happy to help! While I was up there, I also needed to address some vent pipes and a heavy leak around a conduit. Thankfully the other side of the roof was less steep, but still required extra safety measures including an anchored safety harness and gloves with good grip - those metal roofs can be quite slippery (and hot).

The view from up there was pretty breathtaking, a nice perk of the day's hard work!

It's not the size of the job, it's how you work!

I put up this single 4x4 post for a client who is getting a hot tub and wanted to extend their backyard lighting over the area. This is a very small job, especially with the right tools (which I have). I am able to take this on because:

a) it's important to me to be of service and help others no matter how small the scope of their needs are, without charging exorbitant "minimum" job fees

b) my company is lean enough that I can take on these smaller jobs, I'm not selling jobs and subcontracting them, I'm the one doing the work day in and day out, with additional help only when required

c) I purposely build in flexibility each week of my schedule to be able to address these kinds of small jobs

If you have an unaddressed need or a job you can't seem to get booked, don't hesitate to reach out!

Have you demoed your bathroom and grown tired of your deck being a junkyard? Wondering how you will fit a shower and toilet into your trash can?

Even if Blue Ox Workshop didn't make the mess, I'm still happy to haul away your construction debris! I always look for opportunities to recycle or donate any materials in the junk pile to be as responsible as possible when it comes to disposal. The rest doesn't get dumped illegally like some other junk haulers will do, it is brought to a landfill where it can be properly managed.

This month our employee of the month goes to our Head of Technology, Chris! A man of mystery in a tight black onesie, toiling away behind dozens of monitors with important looking schematics and code and dashboards, constantly rolling around in an office chair, does he ever sleep? Is he a secret android? Who cares, he's keeping all this technology running and that's all we need!

How much technology is there in a handyman and home renovation business? More than you'd think! Between hardware, back office software and services, cloud computing, cyber security, payment processing, remote connectivity, website hosting, not to mention exploring how to use AI in a meaningful way (and not just enhancing the background of his self portraits, for example)... there's no shortage of IT in the field! These days if you're not on the forefront of technology, you're falling behind, and he's keeping us on the razors edge!

Contrary to popular belief, floating shelves are not held up with magic!

This little girl's room was given an upgrade on an empty wall with some shallow floating shelves. I measured and anchored each one so they are evenly spaced and completely secure. Now this aspiring bookworm can see her favorites on display, and the top shelf was inverted to allow for some special figurines to be displayed. Another satisfied client for Blue Ox Workshop!

What makes good neighbors? Hiring Blue Ox Workshop of course!

I'm seeing double at this duplex needing just a bit more privacy for all parties. So let's build a fence! Dig some post holes (use 811 first to mark utilities), set posts in a straight line continuing the existing fence line with bracing to keep them level while the concrete cures, add rails and pickets and slope the ends to make everything look lovely and intentional, and you've got yourself a very nice fence! Don't forget the other side of the property. Just like a mirror, things are looking good over here too!

When one door closes, another one opens... wait, that means your doors are broken!

Doors will always shift in a home over time as the foundation settles and moves, which is where I can help. This door was completely out of alignment, and damaged, so we decided to replace it entirely with a fresh new pre-hung door.

First I took the old door out, then stained, sealed, and cut the new door and frame to size in order to fit the slightly smaller-than-normal opening in the basement. Carefully installed with proper shims and support, this door is good as new, because it IS new!

While I was at it, helped out with a few other doors in the home that weren't closing properly - it's amazing how nice a door is when it opens, closes, stays closed... everything you want in a door!

Linoleum, more like lin-OLD-eum, am I right?
..

I love how this project highlights what a difference changing one or two elements in a room can make.

First, I removed the old blue toilet and damaged yellowed sheet flooring. Next, leveled the subfloor and put down some light colored LVP flooring. Then, installed a new toilet and added finishing touches including new baseboard trim and a CRISP caulk line at the edge of the tub (still patting myself on the back for that one, might be my greatest caulk line of all time). Suddenly the blue tub and tile surround looks more intentional as a statement piece, and the bathroom is clean and inviting once more!
