Here is one of our basils for culinary use and cut flowers so its no wonder why we decided to propogate more. Some for us and some to share here are some Google facts for your pleasure!

African blue basil is a sterile, heat-tolerant hybrid known for its deep purple-green leaves, camphor-like flavor, and prolific, pollinator-attracting flowers, making it a great garden plant for bees and a unique culinary herb for teas, cocktails, and savory dishes. It's a cross between camphor basil and 'Dark Opal' basil, and because it's sterile, it doesn't go to seed and doesn't need pinching, staying in bloom longer. It's grown as an annual in cooler climates but can be a perennial in warmer zones (10+).

Key characteristics
Appearance: Tall (up to 3 ft), with deep purple-green leaves and abundant purple flowers.
Flavor: A mix of camphor, clove, and thyme notes, making it different from sweet basil.
Pollinator magnet: Flowers are a major draw for bees and other pollinators.
Heat tolerant: More tolerant of heat and sun than many other basils.
Sterile: Does not produce seeds, so it doesn't need to be pinched back and stays in bloom longer.
Uses
Culinary: Flavoring for cocktails, smoothies, curries, and chutneys; can be used in stir-fries.

Gardening Teaches Patience

So before you judge the weeds.... this is my personal landscape and weeding is often the lesser priority after working hard on clients property. THAT BEING SAID when you shade the ground and feed the soil the weeds become less and less prominent. We just planted a TON of new varieties to play with as we continue to grow our perennial cut flower collection and monitor some new landscape varieties to implement in other people's properties. We don't like to plant things in other people's properties that we haven't experienced sooooooo that just gives us an excuse to get new plants for ourselves.....🫣🤣 By the end or the summer this garden is going to be BUSTING open.

And there it was and what a hidden gem.....truly......but what a transformation!!! This creek is finally at a manageable level and can be enjoyed by the client and nature alike. You should have seen how many birds flocked to the exposed water source. This source of hopelessness has turned into a feature worth protecting!

Maintaining Another Master Gardener's Legacy

These homeowners inherited a master gardeners Japanese style garden with tons of unique and underutilized plants. We were happy to take on some projects in the garden to keep it looking beautiful for years to come

P.S the Japanese maple showed major signs of dieback from the harsh winter freeze we did not tip the branches as a primary form of pruning.

Here are two new mini bouquets added as the flowers keep loading up in the garden, the bouquets and arrangements will be added more frequently! We just finished the tiniest contemporary arrangement in this cute little bud vase and a classic English style arrangement in a punch cup

Let's talk Formosa Lily

She seems high but I'm telling you that she will be the pride of the garden with 12 inch trumpets and 12 inch tall seed pods this is a true showstopper in the garden. The Formosa lily likes blazing sun and makes for a great cut flower. It's a bulb so it's very hardy and is deserving of a place in the stand as well as the garden.

We had such a great time with Thistledew Fold LLC and Lou Keeton slinging some stems in a picturesque farm scene with donkeys, pigs, ducks, chickens, and of course highland cows. If you missed out on this core memory experience don't worry we will do others. Where? Who knows!

Let's talk about Nepeta 'walkers low'

While the common name is catmint this plant is very well behaved. We utilize this plant often in our designs for its reliable clumping habit, it's powder blue foliage, the pollinators go NUTS for it, and it will bloom all summer if you shear off the blooms as they fade. We use this plant in at least 75% of our designs and we are propogating it for the stand
