The adjuster is coming Thursday. The house has been tidied, because that is what people do before a visitor arrives.
Here is the problem: a tidy house shows less damage, not less politeness.
An inspection is usually a single visit, and what ends up in the file depends heavily on what gets shown during it. Three things make the visit count:
First, write the list beforehand — every affected room, every damaged item, including the things that have already been moved or cleaned around.
Second, walk the property together. A quick pass sees the obvious ceiling stain and misses the closet behind it.
Third, keep your own note of the visit: the date, how long it took, what was photographed and what was discussed.
None of this is adversarial. It is just how a one-hour visit ends up reflecting what actually happened to the house.
