Here is a resource for parents. It's a set of very short podcasts that we can listen to as we are making coffee or driving into work.

Titles include “What can the pandemic teach us about what working moms need?” and “2-Minute Pandemic Self-Care Reflection" (come on just take a couple of minutes and do the mindfulness activity?)

I have worked with a number of women and families who have experienced struggles with infertility, miscarriages, stillbirth and birth trauma. In my friendship group, I have known even more women that have gone through the heart break of miscarriages and stillborn babies.

An organization I want to share with you is for families who have experienced a pregnancy or infant loss.

Return to Hope: Zero, https://rtzhope.org/ offers a variety of resources including webinars, articles, lists of support groups and providers who work with families who have gone through similar losses.

I encourage women and families to reach out to support groups to share their stories and receive support, validation and encouragement.

If this is not enough support, I highly encourage you to connect with a provider who is trained in this area. I am honored to accompany families who have gone through the loss of their baby in the state of Georgia in person here in Roswell, or virtually online. Please feel free to contact me for more information.

I love Acceptance and Commitment Therapy because it is filled with metaphors instead of worksheets. For the way my brain works, a metaphor “sticks” and I’m much likely to access a positive coping skill if I’ve learned it as a metaphor.

So, how many times have you found yourself filled to the top with thoughts and feelings that you experience as negative? And the harder you try to avoid them, stuff them down, distract yourself from the the more you are entangled in them?

This short video illustrates another option to handling those thoughts and emotions. In ACT it’s called defusion and uses mindfulness to simply notice the thoughts and feelings without labeling them as negative or unwanted.

If this model interests you and you think it might be a good fit, please call me at 678-798-8540 or use the Contact Me form for a free consultation.

I provide online counseling as well as in person in Roswell, GA.

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with a lot of my clients who struggle with issues like depression,

anxiety, OCD, social phobia and more.

ACT gives us a path to help you move out of a stuck place into a life filled with meaning and purpose.

This short little video demonstrates a technique used in ACT to “defuse” from the cycle of negative emotions that we can find ourselves caught in.

We may notice that we’re having that familiar feeling of depression. As soon as we notice it, something like a switch goes off and we get all tangled up with our depression. We may then begin to feel angry that we’re depressed again, and upon noticing we feel angry, we may then feel sad that once again we’re swept up in the feelings of depression.

The short video demonstrates an alternative to “struggling” – a “Struggle Switch.”

Dr. Russ Harris, Acceptance & Commitment Therapist, explains the struggle switch metaphor through this entertaining and educational clip.To learn more about ...

In preparation for the upcoming season of holidays, I am offering a virtual one night / 2 hour group for women (separate group for men if there is interest) in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy tools to identify values, develop meaningful value statements, and create committed actions.
This is geared towards clients who may be experiencing depression or anxiety about the upcoming season or a sense of feeling “stuck.”
The cost is $35 per client. Access to a printer is required and a short pre-screen interview is necessary.
Group size is limited to six.
This is a great way to help clients who may feel stuck or dread the holiday season to develop some meaningful value statements and committed actions that help them navigate the season more successfully.
Please feel free to pass this information on to others!

I am certified in HeartMath - it's a wonderful tool to learn how to regulate yourself and improve your heart rate variability. You can call me if you're interested in learning more about it, 678-215-2007.

I've been practicing various breathing techniques to help me regulate myself when I become activated, and congruence breathing works so much better.

I love when technology can assist me in my work as a counselor.
