Decided to decorate the park in honor of Chip’s Birthday. I’ll have to take more photos when it’s not quite so dark. I think I need a few spotlights. Chip loved Christmas lights and making the kids in the community happy. I’d say this was a win!

Dear Friends,
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an update on the park. The fire pit is competed and things are beginning to come to life. I planted 8 azaleas and 2 forsythia along with the other two dogwoods that I bought last summer and wasn’t sure where to plant. For Easter I had an inspiration to put a cross in the center of the fire pit. Here are photos of the cross dressed for Good Friday. Tomorrow I have lilies to place around the foot of the cross. More pics to follow. In the back of one of the photos you can see Chip’s old wheel barrow that I painted and planted flowers in.

It’s been a crazy fall. Hoping to get a lot done Thanksgiving week. It’s Chip’s Birthday on the 28th and would love to have the fire pit area finally done. I know the neighbors would love to have the stack of materials in the park disappear!

Since school began it’s been a little slow going but I finally got the rest of the materials to finish the fire pit. Working towards getting it ready for Halloween. Hopefully kiddos will be making s’mores on October 31st!

Stage 1 of creating fire pit seating area. 620 shovels. Yes, I counted.

Worked several hours on Saturday on the flower bed in the back of the park. Planted the Gardenia my students gave me and a Hydrangea given to me as well. Photo of the Elephant Ear Chip planted last year in the front bed. Beautiful foggy morning today.

I’m bad at taking “before” photos. Here’s the mid progress work on the park border. The silt drains across the sidewalk and there were weeds all in the border. Taking a break now, but I’ll post the finished photos soon. Still haven’t planted the remaining three dogwoods. If anyone can come help me next Saturday please let me know. Right now it’s slow going by myself.
