I just read this letter the Editor of the Austin American Statesman - When's the last time you wrote a letter?
I did something unusual today. I wrote a letter to my grandson who lives several hundred miles away in another state. Most of the time, I stay in touch with him through email, but I have not yet gone to text messaging or Facebook. I call him occasionally because I yearn to hear his voice. So, this is my suggestion to all grandparents. Write a letter to your grandchild. Put pen to paper and write a message in cursive or print, then get a stamp and mail it. Maybe this will be something your grandchildren will keep in a scrapbook or with other family history records. This letter will help them remember you. I still have the letters I wrote to my dad when he was in the Army in World War II. And I treasure the letters my late husband wrote to me when we were dating. I don’t think many people will save email messages or text messages for posterity. But maybe I’m wrong.
