One of my favorite parts of the design process is getting to know how people actually live in their kitchen.

What works in one kitchen might be completely wrong for another family, which is why I spend so much time asking questions before we even dig into materials and finishes.

The best kitchens aren’t just beautiful, they’re designed around the people who use them every day. It’s so important to work with someone who recognizes the importance of this.

Most people think they’re hiring a designer to select finishes, choose cabinet colors, and make things look pretty.

While those things certainly matter, they’re only a small part of the process.

Behind every successful kitchen, bathroom, remodel, or new build are hundreds of decisions that shape how a home functions, feels, and supports the people living in it every day.

French country kitchens never go out of style. 🤎

This kitchen was designed around everything people love about the French country aesthetic — warm wood cabinetry, natural stone textures, creamy painted finishes, aged brass hardware, and timeless materials that feel collected over time rather than trend-driven.

One of my favorite details is the combination of knotty alder cabinetry, limestone-inspired stone, and Taj Mahal quartzite. The natural variation and character in each material creates so much warmth and depth throughout the space.

The goal wasn’t to create a kitchen that feels brand new.

It was to create a kitchen that feels like it’s always belonged here.

A bathroom with a view in the Rainey penthouse 🌿

This space may look simple, but an incredible amount of thought went into every detail behind the scenes. We carefully planned each inch around how the client actually lives and functions day-to-day from skincare and hair products to linens, toiletries, and hot tools.

Even the mirror wall required extensive coordination. The client wanted very specific vertical lighting on each side of the mirrors while also incorporating hidden medicine cabinet storage behind them. One of those details that looks effortless when finished, but required countless decisions and layers of planning to execute seamlessly.

I think one of the most overlooked parts of remodeling is how exhausting and overwhelming it can feel trying to make hundreds of decisions about a home you’re already living your life inside of. Most people don’t need “someone to pick pretty finishes.” They need someone who can think ahead for them. Someone who notices the details they don’t yet know to ask about. Someone who helps prevent regrets before they happen.

That’s honestly a huge part of what I do. I help clients slow down, think through how they actually want their home to feel and function, and create spaces that support their real life behind closed doors — not just what looks pretty.

The Rainey Street penthouse project in Downtown Austin. 🖤

This project will always hold a special place in my heart.

Two years of refining details, solving problems before they even came, second guessing tiny decisions, triple checking specifications, and wanting every single piece to feel just right. The kind of project that teaches you so much and quietly shapes the way you approach every project after it.

It reminded me that great design is never just about how a space looks — it’s about how thoughtfully everything comes together behind the scenes to create a home that feels effortless in the end.

This living room was designed to feel warm in every sense of the word. The kind of space that feels inviting the second you walk in — layered textures, rich earthy tones, soft lighting, and pieces that feel collected over time instead of perfectly curated.

We mixed moody patterns, warm woods, vintage-inspired details, and cozy neutrals to create a space that feels elevated while still being deeply livable. Timeless, comfortable, and full of character — exactly how home should feel. 🤎
