Key Tips for Heat Pumps During Ice Storms:

Monitor Defrost: A loud, whooshing sound is normal, as it indicates the unit is in defrost mode to melt ice.

Switch to Emergency Heat: If the outdoor unit is encased in ice, or if you hear loud, abnormal noises, switch your thermostat to "Emergency Heat" or "Auxiliary Heat" to protect the compressor.

Clear Airflow: Ensure 2–3 feet of clearance around the unit, but never use a hard shovel or ice pick to remove ice, as this can damage the coils.

Do Not Cover: Do not cover the top of the unit, as this can trap moisture, restrict airflow, and damage components.
Do Not Panic: A small amount of frost is normal

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Repair, install, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
-Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues to ensure optimal performance.
-Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections to prevent system failures.
-Respond to work order requests in a timely fashion.
-Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:
-Valid HVAC technician certification
-Previous experience
-Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
-Familiarity with tools and equipment
-Ability to handle physical workload
-Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and others with professionalism and respect.
-Ability to work well alone and in a team.
-Must hold a valid driver's license
