I went back to the labyrinth last weekend. I felt like I needed to, so I did.
I felt like the labyrinth could use a good sweep. Once I arrived, I took a look and realized that the labyrinth looked better than I had remembered it had the last weekend. It didn't look so dirty and grim. I did a little sweeping, and then I decided to sit for a while.
As I sat, the first thing I realized was that the sun was shining on my face. It illuminated the whole space, and the center of the labyrinth in particular. I realized that the warmth of the sun brightened up the entire area.
I then looked down and noticed what I thought was a leaf. I had tried to remove most of the leaves while I was sweeping, and thought I must have missed a couple.
As I continued to look at what I thought was a leaf, I soon realized it was actually a bug! It was some sort of leaf-like bug that moved so slowly I thought it was a leaf!
I watched it move for a good 10 minutes or so. It was almost as if it took 2 steps forward, and then 3 steps back, but somehow it moved forward, sometimes directed by the breeze.
As I watched this bug move in the sun, I had the overwhelming feeling that things aren't always as they seem.
Much like the weather, we see things through filters of expectations, experiences, and moods.
It's important to be aware of this in our lives, particularly when we are in situations where we are making decisions or judgements. It's always important to be as informed as possible, but be aware that there is likely something that you just don't know.
Things just aren’t always as they seem.
