DIY Project #1 - Guest Bathroom - Intro
This is going to be hopefully a template for others so I'll start with a guest bathroom I want to improve. The biggest issue is that the bathroom is the original contractor equipment that came with new house. I'm going to start with before pictures and explain what I want to do.
1. The mirror and lights are dated. I stayed at a nice hotel that had something that was new and made more sense then the design that came with the house 20 Years ago. I'm going to use a Mirror that has LED lights that surround the mirror or are built in and remove the top row of lights that use the old incandescent bulbs. The tricky part will be electrical as the ruffed in wires will have to be relocated to hide behind the new mirror that replaces an old fashioned mirror that is right up against the wall. The new LED mirrors extend from the wall a bit and I'm not sure where the electrical will be on the back. This will take some effort to figure out.
2. The faucet is original contractor grade and s**t. One handle and has the old plunger mechanism in the back that handles the stopper at the bottom of the sink. I want to replace this faucet with something more modern and utilize a different type of stopper that is not connected to the faucet that I had seen in someone else's DIY improvement. You can see in one of my pictures that the contractors used fixed copper lines for the water... going to chuck those and replace with flexible lines for a number of reasons..
3. Painting the walls and trim as they have taken a lot of abuse over the years. Thinking of keeping the trim white but going with some kind of muted silver/grey. Current color is a light muted green.
I'll update this post with products I have selected with links to them if available online. I'll let you know what tools I used and an estimate of the time to complete everything. If anyone has a suggestion, please comment.
