This was a fun little repair. This house was built in 1901 and these are the original 5/16” thick floors that were installed way back then. The floor creaks and groans as you walk around, but overall is in good shape. The fireplace had been altered over the years and the homeowners wanted to install a surround and hearth that would be more true to the character of the old place. The finished tile ended up being higher than the floor. We CAREFULLY removed the miter, raised it up on the back to be flush with the new tile, then sanded and finished it to match. Once we got it stained and sealed, we waxed all the floors downstairs to keep them looking good for years to come. I love that we were able to reuse the existing miter and I love working for people that are as concerned with the little details as we are! #901
