Day 6:
Thyme is very easy to GROW and super winter hardy even in pots. There's a wide variety of Thyme to choose from... English Thyme, French Thyme, Lemon Thyme, Lime Thyme, and Varigated Thyme are just a few of the varieties. English and French tend to be the best to cook with. All are lovely for a scented garden.
My favorite ways to use Thyme in COOKING are:
β With any poultry recipe... Thyme enhances the flavor of poultry. I'll even put Thyme twigs on top of chicken breasts while grilling them!
β Add fresh thyme to soups to enhance the depth and flavor of the soup.
β Fresh thyme is wonderful in white bean and sausage stew.
Thyme's HEALING PROPERTIES include:
π Note: There are 2 types of Thyme essential oils... Thyme ct thymol and Thyme ct linalool. Thyme ct thymol is very strong and can irritate skin and mucous membranes. Thyme ct linalool is more mild and can be used on skin. Both need to be used sparingly and diluted with carrier oils to avoid irritation.
π Germ Buster -
Thyme ct thymol can be used in cleaners to clean with natural anti-bacterial properties. Use 5 drops Grapefruit essential oil, 4 drops of Saro essential oil, and 1 drop of Thyme ct thymol essential oil in your favorite diffuser to purify and clean the air in your home.
π Purify -
Thyme ct linalool to purify acne-prone skin
1 drop of Manuka essential oil,1 drop of Patchouli essential oil, 1 drop Thyme ct linalool essential oil in 1 ounce of argan oil. Rub gently on face at nighttime.
π Healthy Airways -
6 drops of Thyme ct linalool and 6 drops of lemon essential oil on the cotton wick of an inhaler to keep your airways open and healthy
*** As with all powerful tools, herbs need to be respected and used with care. If you have sensitive skin, always use essential oils with a carrier oil and do a test patch. Generally, avoid essential oils if you're pregnant and avoid using essential oils on young children and pets.
