🛠️ Friday Strolls to Saturday Install.
Two Sears Kenmore Retirements! 🇺🇸
It has been a wild, non-stop week here at The Water Man!
On Friday, we were out in Marengo, IL tackling a stubborn water issue before heading over to our booth at the Buchanan St. Strolls. Then, instead of kicking back on Saturday afternoon, we were down in Plano, Illinois saving another basement from a water catastrophe.
The common denominator for both jobs? Both homeowners were relying on old Sears Kenmore cabinet-style softeners that were well over 10 years old. 10+ years is a long run for a retail unit, but time eventually wins.
Why They Had to Go:
The Marengo Unit: The cabinet was completely filled with standing brine water. The control valve was choked out with heavy rust. Even after we stripped down the injector assembly and meticulously cleaned the venturi throat, the internal mechanics were just too far gone to draw water. Forcing a temporary fix on components that degraded would have cost the homeowner more in labor than the system was worth.
The Plano Unit: This one didn't suffer a mechanical valve failure, it simply started leaking, threatening to flood the utility area.
The Upgrade: Heavy-Duty Purity 🧼💧
We retired both of those old cabinet systems and replaced them with our premium mid-plate multi-media setups!
Instead of just softening the water or cramming a tiny resin tank into a salt bin, these professional twin-tank builds feature an internal mid-plate design. This allows us to pack the tank with high-grade activated carbon on top to scrub out foul tasting chlorine, chloramine, and chemical odors, while a heavy-duty 10% cross-linked resin bed on the bottom completely eliminates the hard minerals.
No more leaks, no more standing water, and no more chemical tastes, just crisp, perfectly soft, clean water flowing through both homes.
Now that the Saturday afternoon install in Plano is wrapped up, it's finally time to pack up the tools and enjoy the rest of the weekend!
