The back door shot…often referred to as “the back door banger” this imagine set the tone for vanlife. Demonstrating that you can live anywhere and be free. Or at least gives that illusion. If you look close you’ll see a sign and I’m in a public park. These images often have rail guards on the bottom of the frame or are strategically positioned to give the illusion the we “woke up here” when in reality...not the case Anne.

Today this image is often seen with an attractive female and her pooper out the back. Selling something that we all know is a reality 😂 you can ask any solo male vanlifer…they’re not out there with a super model. They’re in a Walmart parking lot or sitting in the desert alone. I’m not sure why everything has to be sexualized. Especially vanlife. But just know that it’s absolutely not a reality while living on the road. Not a lot of showering either. Lots of baby wipes.

Thirty three. It’s a weird thing to say. I remember being 23 and thought I knew everything. You think you have the world figured out at that age. But truthfully….I STILL don’t know anything. I’m still figuring s**t out. So I ask myself every year….”What advice would you give yourself 10 years ago?”….and that’s simple. SLOW DOWN. Just pump the freaking brakes dude. What’s the rush? There’s no fire….The fear of missing out often clouds the brain. You dive head first into the rat race so confidently. So willingly. So ready. That’s what they prepared you for….
I started falling back into old patterns and ways of thinking recently…the signs just started coming in all different directions. Normally I would just go on and not pay any attention to them. “These things happen in life” But as you get older (hopefully) you notice the old patterns and the behaviors that return…. Yes awareness is key. So Thankfully I was able to remedy the situation before any real commitments were made 🙏🏼 Recent life events have gotten me to look at things in a totally different perspective. I’m not putting anything on hold anymore. I’m gonna start living the life that I feel in my heart. Next year I’ll be writing my birthday letter on the Pacific Crest Trail. It feels good to finally put it out there. So much to do in the next year. Im blessed. Everything is aligning And I’m truly grateful to be able to live this life. Thank you to all those who have inspired me and stuck through it with me. I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. Y’all know who you are. And you hold a special place in my heart. Always❤️ ready for whatever is in front of me.

The first Van I ever saw converted was on Instagram in 2016. I had no social media at that time and no interest in really even traveling. I was basically just competing with all my friends and neighbors to see who can buy the biggest house or coolest truck. Materialistic things. I once heard someone describe himself in such a way that I immediately changed my entire perspective on life. Just hearing those words…”I got a nice house, a nice truck, and a good job… I’m doing alright for myself.” Scared me to my core. And that may be truth. But I want to define myself as someone who is much more then objects or materialistic things. Someone who is willing to learn and change in order to serve others. Someone who takes charge and everyday is making themselves and everyone around them better just by simply being them. The fact that I get to create beautiful homes for people to feel comfortable in…giving them a vessel to take them to amazing destinations without having to sacrifice their basic needs and comforts. “Whatever it takes to get them out there to experience this beautiful earth we call home”

The ceiling is by far my favorite part of any Van Build. I love different transitions and breaking it up into different areas. The ceiling is the first thing you see when you enter the van unless you’re 8 feet tall. The wow factor to me is super important, I don’t like plain tongue and groove ceilings with big curves in them. Or ceilings that are the same front to back. It’s just boring. There’s so much real estate up there to get creative and make it something special to look at. Also cabinetry that touches the ceiling. Stop that.

It was thicc.
