βοΈ **WINTER TREE TRIMMING MYTHS: What's TRUE and What's BS** π³
Let's debunk winter tree trimming myths.
**MYTH #1: "You can't trim trees in winter!"** β PARTIALLY TRUE
β
Safe: Dormant deciduous trees
β Don't: Evergreens (actively growing in winter)
**MYTH #2: "Winter trimming kills trees!"** β FALSE
Improper technique kills treesβnot the season. Bad cuts, stubs, wrong angles are bad any time.
**MYTH #3: "Winter cold prevents healing!"** β
TRUE-ISH
Trees heal slower in winter, but disease risk is actually LOWER because bacteria and fungi are less active.
**MYTH #4: "Trim in fall to prep for winter!"** β FALSE
Fall is one of the WORST times. Wounds don't seal well, new growth is vulnerable to frost, disease risk is HIGH.
**MYTH #5: "Spring is the ONLY time to trim!"** β
MOSTLY TRUE
Spring = fastest healing and strongest growth. But you CAN trim in winter if you pick the right trees.
**MYTH #6: "Winter trimming is cheaper!"** β
TRUE
Lower demand = easier scheduling and lower prices. But don't sacrifice tree health for savings.
**THE REAL RULES:**
β
Safe in winter: Dormant deciduous trees, dead/diseased branches (anytime)
β Avoid in winter: Evergreens, major pruning
π Best: Spring (late Feb-April) for major work
**OUR RECOMMENDATION:**
Dormant deciduous trees + dead/diseased branches = winter is fine. Major pruning? Wait for spring.
