I’m making my 14 year old cover her eyes during some scenes and it’s reminding me of when my mom took me to see Pretty Woman in theaters and held her hands over my eyes. If we watch before the sun sets the glare is so strong that it’s hard to see the scenes anyway… now I’m just making excuses.
Would you watch this with your teen?

If your family has high needs, find someone who’s incredibly good at their job, so they can tackle your needs easily within their skill set. Plus, compensate them well, pay them when you aren’t there, and when they are sick… basically be a good employer.

If your family life feels challenging, find someone with experience doing something MUCH harder. In our case that was hiring someone who had worked in the kids club of a cruise ship, maybe it’s someone who themselves is from a large family, someone with a love of laundry (I swear 2 of my Nannie’s loved laundry), etc.

It’s not Fourth Wing, but Great and Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros is absolutely worth the read. A beautiful love story set in a small Ghost Town, a story of brothers, one is a war hero coming back, and a long lost love. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What I expected from a big family:
- logistics, built in babysitters, meal planning, camp spreadsheets…

What I actually learned by having 6 kids?
That each child is unique. I need to love and accept them for who they really are. Through that process, I also stopped caring what anyone else thinks of me. I love and accept myself too. ❤️

Find your community. Base it on what matters to you and find the place that feels like home and the people who feel like family. I’m lucky to live near my family and share community with them ❤️
