No part wasted!!
These marigold flowers are picked (sparingly) from each plant. We use marigolds all summer long to keep certain types of pests from getting into our garden, then we pick them and dry them to use as fall 🍂 decorations, and this year we plan to even keep them to decorate our Christmas tree 🌲 
❄️ Then at the end of winter, their seeds will be used to grow more plants for next years pest control.
We believe in using as many sustaining practices as we can, and I want to keep parts of our garden with us all year long. We cannot wait to see how these decorations come out after just a couple weeks of drying 💛🧡🤍🧡💛

🔔 Reminder that we are officially done with farmers markets for the season! There are still many farmer markets in our northeast area of Oklahoma, and local vendors set up in almost every town with fresh, locally grown produce. Go out and support your local vendors!

First garden picked and on to the second on the hill.
Because of the very rough week our family has had, we have decided tomorrow will be our last farmers market for the season. We appreciate all the customers, the other vendors who have been so helpful, and our new customers that have brightened our day every time we got to see them!
The next couple weeks will be spent prepping and preserving the produce from our gardens, family fun days, and final (hopefully) doc appts before school starts.
We have loved all the companies and chefs we have paired up with this year, and can't wait to see you all again next year!

The pumpkins we grow are usually just for us as the seasons turn from summer to autumn. Sometimes if one comes up early enough, the kids will enter them into the local county fair, and last year they got the big blue ribbon for their efforts.
Since we decided to take a break from fairs this season, we decided to try something different with our pumpkins- and gently carved our initials into a few of them! So far they are coming along greatly!
Here's to waiting for the nights to shorten, the days to cool down, and the leaves to turn 🍂

Stepped outside this morning after having picked the last two days and found more already blushing!
It's Saturday morning and a great day to go to your local farmers markets to support local vendors!
With all the uncertainty around our food supplies, it's more important now than ever to support local and know where your food comes from. No matter which booth you go to, we all win when communities support local 🍅 🥒

Another good day in the house garden. Our spaghetti squash are finally ready and we even got our first egg plant today!
Tomatoes are still going strong, and pumpkins are big enough to be seen through out the plant.
Now on the to the garden on the hill!
