Well, if I must say so myself, the bibb lettuce ‘experiment’ had a very unusual outcome. This is what happens when you let a bibb lettuce plant go all the way to flowering maturity; a plant over three feet tall with a stalk about an inch thick. I must say, these plants started to freak me out the last few days with their incredible growth in a very short while. I finally had to take them out when the last one threatened to topple after brushing the ceiling fan. I swear I had dreams these things were going to grow out of the garden room and choke me in my sleep. 😳 But now there’s lots of new space in the ‘garden’.

I know a whole lotta folks have been seeing this assortment in the alcove of the hydroponics garden room and asking, “What the heck has that got to do with hydroponics?!” Well, the short answer is, “nothing”. That’s actually my antiquated LP and CD collection. You see, kids, a long time ago your parents and grandparents had to physically go to a little Mecca called ‘Bebop Record Shop” and BUY MUSIC! (I’m sure the millennial fact checkers will probably censor me over such a ludicrous misstatement🙄) These would then be transferred to a medium used by us dinosaurs called ‘cassette tapes’ on a ‘tape deck’ which, along with a good direct drive, ‘not belt, mind you’, turntable (one with an excellent cartridge and a ‘Diskwasher’ to keep your LP’s dust free) onto our own mix tapes of selected songs. And any good well informed male knew that to really impress girls, you needed good tunes to play in the cassette deck of the car stereo. THIS is that collection. I’m actually quite proud of it and will keep it safely tucked away on the top shelves until I can find an appropriate museum area in my home to house it once I renovate. 500 LPS and nearly the same number of CD’s of which others are scattered and stored elsewhere. Now THAT’s dedication to music. You pre Napster yahoos of the current millennium will never appreciate what WE went through to preserve and compile truly great music. But then, WE actually had great music to compile and preserve…. Y’all got…. Well... it ain’t music...🙄
