I have been slacking on photography and especially on posting lately. Mostly it’s been the brown and extra few April blizzards and a recent nasty virus. Today was lovely and most of us are feeling better, tomorrow is Friday (Zae day!), and this weekend is the benefit for my cousin Hayden. He will be in the hospital at the time, so I’ll be taking lots of photos (plus my camera is great for my anxiety—I can hide behind it a bit 🤷🏻‍♀️)

This is one of Finn with Cotton from when he was a kitten last year. He’s been missing for a while which makes me sad, he was such a sweet cat. You can see more of the boys and our kitties under our hashtag 🐈‍⬛

If there is a cause I am passionate about, it’s the environment and global warming and all the layers under the heading. I approach this subject with a hefty dose of my usual cynicism {and just maybe a little pinch of sarcasm} because taking care of the only planet where the human race can survive seems like an imperative step. Argue with me. I’ll wait.

Guys. When do words not come to me? I’m so mentally tired. But…guess what? I’m officially divorced! It’s such a relief to have this phase over and done. I don’t deal well with that kind of stress, which is probably why I was in turtle mode (refer to last post?). Tired. But grateful. Because it’s also been six months since my spinal fusion and I’m really a person again!!

It’s officially spring and we are sooo happy to be able to step outside without doing the endless layers!

I posted yesterday, randomly after what—three weeks of not posting? I let my DMs pile up, let a few of you know I wasn't dead, but other than that I went into turtle mode. 🐢

I've talked about this "habit" {𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱: 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀} before, and while it's not something I'm proud of, it is something I've come to accept about myself.

Sometimes I just need to disappear from the world. That's my way of dealing with anxieties when they build up and become too much, when I feel like I’m being pulled in too many directions. Whatever…I don't need to know why, I just need to allow myself that time of grace. It's my cycle, and I've come to recognize it and make peace with how my mind works.

I tend to dive in, hot and heavy for a while, and then need to back off and just be. Live quietly. Don't feel guilty. Just let my natural rhythm rule and be okay with that. It is what it is.

Also—I’ve missed you all!! It’s crazy how much I really love and admire this community of photographers. You guys actually CARE when I talk about depth of field. So grateful for you like-minded, kindhearted people!

It's been too long, but I have my first official session this weekend, and I am super excited to get back into the game! I've been focusing on doing some classes and developing presets and other things for my digital shop, but I really miss being out in the field with you guys, capturing your moments.
