At the end of summer berries and sometimes trees (apple, pear, peach) are on sale at a huge discounted price. Plant them before fall rolls around to get the root system established. Next year they will still be there! Best way to catch a deal when starting to plant items that are nutritious. ~Roots & Remedies Homestead

Chickens in the garden 🫠.

Failure isn't always failure. It's lessons learned. My butternut squash seeds turned into winter squash seeds. The butternut I did have growing the chickens destroyed it. The squash bug has taken over all the crops. It's a complete loss. I didn't have this issue last year. My lesson from this is two things. Plant squash in multiple areas and start (or restart) companion plants before I start the crop. I've lost a lot due to the weather, wind and a week of neglect.

Would love to have an orchard, had to start small. Another great reminder that the choices you make today can affect your life later. Which can be a good a good thing 🙂🍐🍎

Native Americans have used black walnuts to get rid of parasites. This is something that ancient people were aware of. Humans get parasites from all kind of sources. From what we eat to unfiltered water and just being outside or by our pets. Many people suffer from parasite infections such as fatigue or digestive issues even sugar craving. They go undiagnosed because Western medicine ignores this as an issue.

Black walnut has a phenolic compound called Juglone. It can combat oxidative stress, thereby protecting against the development of various diseases and possess antibacterial activities . It inhibits bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (Staph) . "Juglone exhibits a selective antimicrobial activity against different sources of Staphylococcus aureus strains" coming straight from the source below. When the proper dose is taken it can kill, paralyzed and expel parasites from the system.

I'm using it for a parasite cleanse tinture. To do twice a year. I've combined it with clove and fresh oregano. I am using a recipe from a reputable herbalist. I've combined my ingredients into a jar with 100 proof vodka. I will let it sit for 6 weeks. Once ready I will strain the liquid from the ingredients and put in a jar and tincture bottle. For dosing, I will take 10 drops daily for 20-30 days max. It's powerful and not to be taken daily.

Made an oxymel with bee balm also known as Monarda Fistulosa. There are many different species and colored flowers of Bee Balm.

Bee balm is great for many ailments; digestion getting things moving that are stagnant, wound healing & burns used in salves, cold and Flu, and infections.

Bee balm has a chemical compound called Thymol (oregano and Thyme also have this) which fights infections. Could use as a tea or a mouth wash for mouth infections. Surprisingly Listerine has Thymol as an ingredient, but it's synthetic.

Hydrosol is another chemical compound that it has. This can help fight candida and fungus. Could be used topically or made as a tea for internal.

It can breakdown E. Coli and help heal a urinary tract infections.

I combined fresh bee balm with equal parts ACV and local honey to create an oxymel. I'll let it sit, while shaking daily for 4 weeks max. After that I will strain the liquid from the plant matter and store in a jar for this winter season coming up.

More facts from the scientific studies.
