If your Buda, Kyle, Driftwood, or Dripping Springs home was built between 1995 and 2007, there's a good chance you've got Kitec piping behind your walls, and it's worth knowing before it becomes a 2 AM emergency.

Kitec was marketed as a cheaper alternative to copper back in the day. Problem is, the brass fittings corrode from the inside out (a process called dezincification), and the pipes themselves can't handle the temps most modern water heaters run at.

When Kitec fails, it doesn't drip. It bursts, often with zero warning.

It was recalled back in 2005, and the truth is it's not a matter of if it fails, it's when.

How to check: look under your sinks or near your water heater for bright orange (hot) or blue (cold) tubing stamped "Kitec" or "KTC."

If you find it, don't panic, but don't ignore it either. Repiping now means you control the timing. Waiting means the pipes decide for you, usually at the worst possible moment.

This is a heavy-duty wall-mounted carrier for a commercial fixture, set into metal stud framing alongside the rough-in for supply and waste lines (white PVC for DWV, copper for water supply, insulated lines for temp control).

Our tech verified carrier height, centerline alignment, and level across both axes using a spirit level and tape measure before sign-off, critical since any misalignment here means fixture issues down the line that are a lot harder to fix post-drywall.

Case of the flushed PAW Patrol toy: solved.
